Dear Goshen Friends Families,
I’d like to introduce you to Goshen Friends School’s General Committee, known in other organizations as the Board of Directors. I serve as Clerk or Chairperson. There are 10 of us: past parents, former teachers, friends of the School, Quakers and non-Quakers, who meet every other month with the Head of School and Business Officer.
Our responsibilities are four-fold:
- to have financial responsibility for the school.
- to hire and support our Head of School, the General Committee’s only employee. It is Tr. Mimi’s responsibility to hire all faculty and staff and run the day-to-day operation of the school.
- to ensure that the school lives its mission: “Guided by the Quaker values of equality, integrity, simplicity, community and peace, Goshen Friends School provides a strong academic foundation through a responsive curriculum and small classes to nurture joyful learning.”
- to plan for the future of the school.
