SMILES BENEATH THE MASKS
The Third Grade students in Mrs. Judy Stein’s class brought joy to our community during Chanukah. The students prepared cards and songs for residents at Levindale so they could enjoy the Chanukah spirit in a COVID-safe manner. Once Morah Stein realized other venues could also benefit from this video, she arranged to have it shown at other nursing homes and assisted living facilities, bringing the happiness of Chanukah to others.
CHANUKAH EXCITEMENT
The girls experienced much excitement during Chanukah in the Upper Elementary. Each day the girls joined together in the auditorium to sing the Hallel together with their teachers. The halls were filled with Chanukah music, creating excitement as the girls entered and left school each day. Each student decorated a doughnut courtesy of our PTA. Many classes made decorations to bring home and share the Chanukah excitement with their families. The teachers filled this Chanukah with memories that will last.
KRIAH BAKERY
The Third Grade finally had their first Kriah incentive event: The Kriah Bakery. Mrs. Chaya Hoffman and the classroom assistants transformed the multipurpose room into a realistic bakery complete with baked goods and prizes for the girls to purchase with the Kriah Kash they earned. Aside from the benefits of building their Hebrew reading skills, we noticed how the students displayed sensitivity to others at the bakery.
CONNECT TO READING
The Fourth Grade set a goal to increase the number of books the students read. For each book read, a link is added to a chain in the hallways. The chain already reaches around the entire fourth-grade hallway! What a fun way to motivate our students to read more.
PARSHA CAKES
Our Fourth Grade has a delicious program to learn about the Parsha in a multi-sensory way. Each week several girls decorate a cake with a design that tells the story of the Parsha. The girls then share their creation with the class as they devour each detail of the Parsha’s lessons.
