The Honourable
Member of Parliament
Australian and Victorian Parliaments.
Dear
RE: Proposed extension of State of Emergency Powers announced by Premier
Daniel Andrews at his Corona Press Conference on
Monday 24th of August 2020.
I wrote to all state and federal mp's in the past twenty-four hours which equates to over 300 members of parliament. Sadly, to say the response was underwhelming is an understatement, and while I understand you are all probably being deluged with emails at the moment, you do have staff in your offices, you have just been granted pay rises and you have numerous benefits in relation to your position.
Taking this into consideration, your collective response to my emails is extremely disappointing. I use professional email software that tracks who receives my emails, who opens those emails and even who clicks on the links contained within them.
Taking into account that well over 90% of the open rate of the emails indicated below that were sent to federal mp's replied with an "automated response" these numbers are simply unacceptable. Considering these times and the circumstances you have delivered much of us into, you would think you would have the respect to communicating more directly with your constituents.
If you didn't want to be lobbied by constituents why stand for parliament? To federal mp's, an automated response is an insult, not a response.
To those few that did reply directly, I thank you so very much.
