CBRL news April 2019
Welcome to CBRL’s April newsletter.

This week, CBRL's Amman institute has been hosting a Newton Fund British Council workshop o n Water Resources: management and sustainability in Jordan from pre-history to the future . Organised by CBRL trustee Dr Matt Jones (Nottingham University) and Dr Sana’a Al Zyoud (Al al Bayt University), the workshop aims to foster UK-Jordanian research and innovation partnerships on this issue and our opening image here is of the workshop participants on our institute steps.

In Jerusalem, the winter renovations are nearing completion and the doors (or rather rooms) at the Kenyon Institute will soon be opening again to overnight guests.

In our continuing series of UK events to mark the centenary of CBRL's founding institute, the British School of Archaeology in Jerusalem, on 2nd May we will be holding a lecture given by Dr Andrew Patrick (Tennessee State University) that discusses the King Crane Commission - the first post-Ottoman American intervention in the Middle East.
That same afternoon, we will be holding a workshop that looks further at this theme - a small number of places are still available - if you would like to know more and attend, please contact us .

Finally, this is a reminder that last month we launched the Call for Papers prize for the best paper submitted to our journal, Contemporary Levant , and the CBRL 2019 prize for best undergraduate dissertation . The dissertation prize is supported by a generous donation from Prof. Rosemary Hollis. Please do spread the word with colleagues.

We hope you enjoy reading our April news and we hope to see you at one of our events in the near future.
