News You Can Use: September 28, 2020

Dear CCGS Families,
We had a beautiful weather week which allowed for us to have lots of outdoor time. This week our students did their Fun Run in P.E. for our YEF fundraiser. We cannot wait to reveal who will get to silly string the principals next week. Thank you so much for your support and donations. We had a busy week here at Circle Center. Students are working on narrative writing, the letter E and L, weather conditions, maps, and multiplication. As you can imagine, things can often get busy as a school principal, so one of the things I enjoy is visiting your students' SeeSaw, RAZ, or Dreambox lessons to see what they are learning and how they are doing. It always brings me joy to see how excited our students are about their work and to see how quickly they are growing as learners. In remote classes this week I got to see some of our students working on sentence writing, punctuation, and I even learned a very catchy song about short vowel sounds. One of the highlights of my week was joining Ms. Litchfield's class for recess. We played freeze shadow tag and kickball together. So fun! We cannot wait to see you at our Curriculum Night. Please watch for a link from your teacher with more information and a zoom link. On Sunday, please check out our Google website where all of the curriculum night slides will be posted by Sunday night.

I hope you have a great weekend with your family!

Mrs. Hamm
Below are some pictures of students at work this week.
What a special treat for Ms. Ripsch's students who got to play basketball with one of Yorkville Community Officers! Thank you to Officer Aktabowski.
This student was so excited to be our shout out school prize winner! She brought a friend with her to help say the pledge today. She got a special pencil and will be our pledge leader all of next week. To watch the pledge from home each day please visit our Google website.
Congratulations to our Golden Platter Winner of the week! Ms. Taxis's classroom was chosen this week for following the 4 school cornerstones during lunch and recess. It was also Ms. Taxis's birthday, so they had a great celebration!

Learning Fun in Ms. Crosby’s Class (Photos above)

Hello CCGS Family! We have had a wonderful beginning to our year in our 3rd grade class. We have been busy building our class community and we are doing amazing learning all of the new expectations. We are loving using Google slides to view our tasks for the day and have become so skilled at keeping ourselves accountable for our own work.  Going to our outdoor learning zones has been so refreshing to enjoy reading together. We are growing in our new multiplication skills every day with fun chants and raps! Dreambox has been our new favorite part of Math as it meets everyone where they are at and pushes them further daily. We have found creative ways to still collaborate safely together and are enjoying time to talk and learn with our peers. We look forward to more learning and fun this year!

  • All of the MAP reports will be coming home with your child this week by Friday. All remote students will receive reports in the mail. This could take up to a week longer.
  • We will be having our first fire drill this week. Please talk to your child about the importance of drills. We will be following social distance guidelines for our drills. Drills are important at home too! This is a great time to practice with your child and talk about where to go if there were a fire in your home. If you do a drill, please take pictures and post them here!
  • e-Learner Families: Attendance is mandatory on all zoom lessons. This is the time your child is receiving his or her direct instruction. Please make sure your child attends every zoom session or they will be marked absent. Attendance and truancy are still being monitored in all learning formats.
  • Hybrid Families: In addition to your child coming to school there are two hours of learning that are taking place at home also. Teachers have shared this information in Google Classroom or SeeSaw. If your child is not completing their afternoon work, we will be marking it as a partial absence and truancy reporting would apply. If your child is struggling with their independent work at home, please contact your child's teacher for assistance or modifications.
