Annual Count Event
Every September WAMPO coordinates an annual count of bicycle and pedestrian activity across 35 different sites in Park City, Goddard, Andover, Mulvane and Wichita to name a few.

The data collected during the count helps to estimate the number of people and locations people bicycle, walk and run.

In order to effectively gather this information we rely on a team of volunteers to spend a short period of time at each site counting bicyclists and pedestrians.

Event dates:

Thursday, September 24th from 5-7 PM
Saturday, September 26th from 12-2 PM

TRANSPORTATION AWARENESS
National Heatstroke Prevention
July 31st is National Heatstroke Prevention Day.

Outside of crashes, heatstroke is the number one vehicle-related killer of children in the United States.

That’s why WAMPO is teaming up with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration in an attempt to reduce these deaths by reminding parents and caregivers about the dangers of vehicular heatstroke and leaving children in hot cars.
In 2019, there were 52 preventable deaths of children in vehicles, only one child less than in 2018.
