Apply Now: Temporary Layoff Extension Deadline is TODAY
Today is the deadline to submit applications to extend a “COVID-19 emergency layoff” beyond August 30. Without this variance, the employment relationship will be permanently severed as of August 30, and eligible employees must be provided any severance they are owed as a result of termination. Applications must be received by today's deadline to be considered.

If you require this variance, and you have not done so, please head to the province's online portal where yourself and your workers can apply jointly to the Employment Standards Branch for a further temporary layoff variance.
Marsha Walden Appointed President & CEO of Destination Canada
The Kelowna Chamber would like to extend our congratulations to Marsha Walden on her new appointment of President and CEO at Destination Canada. Local Company Liquid Kudos Delivers Exceptional BC Wine & Spirits Experiences
New local company Liquid Kudos encourages you to experience exceptional BC wine, spirits and more. Founders Rhona Stanislaus and Shannan Schimmelmann take pride in continually learning about the best BC beverage produces have to offer and encourage you to join them.

What is something you wish you knew when you first began?
Well, it certainly would have been helpful to know COVID-19 would launch right around the same time as Liquid Kudos! Humour aside, as we started Liquid Kudos, we at times got caught up in varying degrees of perfectionism. We’ve come to recognize that failure is part of the process, and to expect that it is part of life as an entrepreneur. We’ve come to accept we will learn from mistakes we make along the way, what is working and what isn’t, adapt and keep moving forward. At times we want the business to progress more quickly, but we are there to remind each other that building a business and a brand takes time.

What is something people might not know about Liquid Kudos?
Liquid Kudos was a way to follow our passion for the BC beverage industry. We want to be a part of increasing awareness of exceptional BC wine and spirits across Canada. Our beverage club is open to Canadians of legal drinking age who are interested in exploring and enjoying BC wine and spirits. What’s unique is there is no ongoing purchase commitment. Members are always in control of what they purchase and when.

We are also very interested in the business end of things. We see a role for us in supporting business owners and the industry as a whole. We have decades of experience related to financial planning and financial management, policy, supply chain management, international business, travel and tourism, hospitality, food and beverage and recreation.
What are you looking forward to in the future?
We are excited to pursue a variety of partnerships and collaborations, including one with a fantastic travel designer who will work with us on domestic and international travel experiences with a wine and spirit tourism focus. We both love to travel and so we are excited to travel, explore and share new adventures with club members.

We are in the process of expanding club offerings to include events (tastings, team building, etc.). We have a new collaboration we are working on with Velo-Volt, a new mobile e-bike rental business. Watch for details on an upcoming Cycle & Sip events around the Okanagan.
