A note from the Artistic Director
Shave and a haircut! Two Bits!
Hi everyone,

Both our Virtual Adult Program and our combination of Virtual & In-Person Youth Programs are now in full operation. It's such a pleasure to see some of our kids back in the studio and we hope we can do the same for our adults in the new year!

Everything is moving right along, and both of these training programs will continue on until December 20th.

This past weekend, we held a bunch of classes outdoors at the Hudson River Park. Thanks to everyone who participated and of course many thanks goes to our staff and teachers for coordinating it all. We REALLY had a good time and the weather was perfect! (See some photos below). We hope to take more of our youth program classes outside while we can in the next few months. It IS nice to be out in the open air and I think our students really enjoy the freedom it provides as long as we stay safe.

Meanwhile, the next TWO Tap TV presentations are listed below. I am having a GREAT time presenting this series of amazing performances from our past, and the response has been really positive. I think I will continue to do this throughout next year. REMEMBER, each presentation involves a LIVE moderation, open forum and discussion in the CHAT ROOM as the program progresses!

OK, that's it for now, as usual, keep healthy, keep safe, and please keep time!

Twenty years ago we presented an evening that honored our master hoofers that included tributes to Leon Collins, Bubba Gaines, Charles “Cookie” Cook, Eddie Brown, Jimmy Slyde, Charles “Honi” Coles, Steve Condos & others. The late LaVaughn Robinson, the late Jimmy Slyde & the late Prince Spencer also performed.
Produced by Tony Waag, this amazing, and very emotional production was originally premiered on Wednesday, July 11th at Tap City in 2001.

RHYTHM TAP TEACHER
TRAINING WORKSHOP

Monday November 16, 2020
(12:00-2pm est)

Time Steps and Traditional Jazz Structures
with
Margaret Morrison and Susan Hebach

Join us for rhythm tap enrichment and new teaching ideas to bring to your tap students.
Time Steps, those foundational units of traditional and contemporary tap choreography, can unlock a treasure trove of material for tap teachers. We’ll explore dynamic 2-bar and 4-bar phrases and how to use them to teach your students solid technique, rhythm concepts, tap dance history, and more. We’ll talk about making good music choices so that your choreography can guide your students to deeper tap dance expertise. You’ll learn approaches for all levels of students (age 6 to adult) and compositional tools so that you can create your own rhythmically sophisticated time steps to build into fun exercises and exciting dances.

Tuition: $20 for 2-hour Workshop
