Most of us in our increasingly divided country at least agree on one thing. As we struggle through the pandemic, the economy, and burgeoning unrest, progress on the societal and economic issues that bedevil our country will not be made until we beat this virus. We thank you for wearing masks, using hand sanitizer at the door, wearing gloves for browsing, and maintaining social distance in the store. Together we can keep each other safe.
Thank you as well for all your kind words of support and appreciation during your visits. We are profoundly grateful for your continued investment in Eagle Harbor Books.

Independent Bookstore Day
Take 2!
Independent Bookstore Day (IBD) has been rescheduled for Saturday, August 29. Although there will be no bookstore crawl this year, we will celebrate with a lively combination of in-store and online events and exclusives. We look forward to another festive day of community celebrations.
And since baseball season has finally arrived, here's a message from IBD's 2020 Literary Ambassador, Sean Doolittle - Relief Pitcher for the reigning World Series Champs, the Washington Nationals.
"I love indie bookstores because I love the safe and inclusive spaces that they create for the people in their communities. They're more than just places to shop. They are community centers that promote and host important events about issues that impact their communities."

The Lost and Found Bookshop, by Susan Wiggs
Bookstores are filled with the best of stories, but this bookshop is even better - it hides mysteries within its walls and beneath its floors - secrets that can change a life. Readers will love Natalie, who inherits an historic (but also dilapidated) bookshop after a heartbreaking tragedy. Never afraid but often uncertain, she plunges forward to rebuild her life and preserve her legacy, with the help of a delightful surrogate bookstore family, a bookstore cat, and her beloved ailing grandfather. What would you do for love? That is the essence of this very rich novel. ~ Jane

The City We Became,
by N.K. Jemisin
A brilliant read. This book is so topical that you look up and wonder if it is actually happening. Dark Sci-fi edged with hope and determination. ~ Victoria

The Wisdom of John Muir,
by Anne Rowthorn
An essential companion for naturalists and creaky knees everywhere. Go outdoors with some of the most inspirational writings by John Muir, the greatest ambassador our National Parks will ever know. Over 100 writings share the philosophies and observations of a man whose eyes (and feet) have appreciated the many natural wonders our country has to offer. Let your imagine soar as you read - hopefully outdoors! - as though you're traveling with the man himself. ~ Jenna

The Last Season,
by Eric Blehm
You fall in love again with the outdoors as well as the characters presented in this amazing telling of the life of Randy Morgensen. Set in the Sierra Nevada mountains, Randy balanced his domestic life with his Summers spent as a backcountry ranger, until he went missing in 1996. There is something in this book for everyone, and we can all see a little of ourselves in Randy. Every genre is represented - mystery, biography, love, and everything in between. This book will appeal to your inner nature nut and your short-lived Psych-Major dreams. Hands down my favorite book in the world, one that has a permanent spot on my nightstand. ~ Willa

Cloud Atlas,
by David Mitchell
What an experience! In Cloud Atlas, David Mitchell propels the reader through centuries of character, intellectual story-lines and genres - all ingeniously connected by one linear theme. Do you enjoy historical literature? Cloud Atlas is for you. Betrayal and espionage? Cloud Atlas is for you. Or do you prefer comedy, science fiction, romance, drama, dystopia? Again, Cloud Atlas is for you. There really isn't a reader that Cloud Atlas doesn't have covered. ~Jenna

Always Look on the Bright Side of Life, by Eric Idle You don't have to be a Monty Python fan like me to enjoy this autobiography by one of its members, though it would at least prepare you for the zany humor you'll encounter here. The title of the book is from a song that first appeared in the Pythons' movie, Life of Brian. Idle explains how the wacky Python members began collaborating in the 1960s, and narrates the development of their hit TV series, their Holy Grail and Meaning of Life movies, and the musical Spamalot. He also relates some wonderful adventures that he's had with famous friends like George Harrison and Robin Williams. Eric Idle is a brilliant and frequently hilarious writer. ~ David

Fair Warning,
by Michael Connelly
Veteran crime reporter Jack McEvoy, the hero of Connelly's The Poet and The Scarecrow is back! He's working for a watchdog crime blog called Fair Warning tracking unsolved murder cases. When a woman with whom he had a one-night stand is murdered, Jack is determined to find her killer. Working with several SoCal police agencies as well as the FBI, Jack navigates the labyrinth of the genetic, scientific and biomedical communities to trap the killer. As fast a page turner as Connelly has ever written, this is a must read for his fans and a great place to start if you've never met Jack McEvoy. ~ Susan

A Small Business Community Fundraiser
|
|
Our island is home to an amazingly diverse collection of small businesses which support and provide for the Bainbridge community. They are owned and operated by our family, friends, and neighbors and currently facing an unprecedented challenge. Help your favorite local business survive this difficult time with the purchase of a special Bainbridge Strong t-shirt or hoodie. For each item sold, a $10 donation goes directly to the business, organization, or non-profit of your choice - no additional work on their part, just a little help to show our love.
Thank you for supporting the island's independent bookstore
