New to GSP?

Have you recently discovered Grace St. Paul’s Episcopal Church? Would you like to know more about our beloved community?
Please fill out our Visitor Card at
Dear families,

We all know that this pandemic will not be resolved as school begins. I do not know how and when school will start, but I understand this creates difficult decisions for you and you try to manage home, school, and work (and hopefully not lose jobs).

We want to plan for the fall to help you as much as we can; however, I am not in your shoes so I can only assume what you will need.

It will help if you could please email me ( [email protected]) with any concerns you have and anything GSP can do that would help you. This will assist me in coming up with ideas for you during this unique circumstance. I can also try to connect you to helpful resources outside of GSP.

I wish you all well and I hope to hear from you.

Blessings,
Jessica
Several parishioners have wondered about their pledge and gift checks not clearing as quickly as they used to.

Please be aware that the counting of offerings to GSP only occurs every two or three weeks during these times, so it may take as much as a month for a check you have written to clear your account.

On the other hand, electronic giving, through EasyTithe, is accounted for automatically. If your personal bookkeeping requires more rapid accounting, please consider giving through the EasyTithe link on the GSP home page.

Thanks for your patience and understanding!
Flower memorials for the live streaming Sunday broadcasts would be greatly appreciated. They add to the beauty of the service. More than one person or family could be on a particular Sunday.
Send your requests to [email protected] with your dedication and date. The money for the flowers needs to be sent to the church. I will notify David of your requests.

Thank you , Jane Thrall

Virtual Kids Hangout ended this week, on Thurs, July 30.

Come people come, to this safe place of love and peacefulness.
This is a time of quiet in a familiar space. In a space once filled with people who love and care about others.
I come into the space
to just be present,
to pray,
to hear and listen,
to look at these beautiful windows with stories of faith hope comfort and salvation.
I come to allow the Holy Spirit free access to my heart mind and soul.

GSP SPIRIT PLAYERS AUGUST PLAY READING

The GSP Spirit Players will be continuing its regular First Friday Play Readings via Zoom (of course) on Friday, August 7 at 7 p.m. We should end by 8:30 p.m. This month our theme is “Odds and Ends”; we’ll finish up the four short plays we didn’t get to last month as well as a couple of other 10-minute reads.

People who wish to read should RSVP to Nanalee Raphael ( [email protected] ) by the Tuesday of the week of the reading. For August, this will be August 3. Parts will then be assigned prior to the reading, to save time at the beginning of the evening. Roles may not be available for everyone, but all are encouraged to participate as readers or audience. All plays will be suitable for all age persons. Scripts will be emailed to all participants – readers and audience - on the Wednesday before the reading. Below is the information to access the Zoom play readings. Please sign in 10 minutes ahead of time so any technical issues can be addressed before the reading is to begin. Hope to see you there!

Beloved Parishioner in Need
of a Room to Rent

Dear Grace St. Paul's,
One of our younger parishioners, whom you all know and love, is in need of a place to stay. She describes herself as kind, tidy, and pet friendly. Please contact Jessica at the church office if you have a room to rent on a short term or long term basis. Thank you!
Available

Are you in need of a:
  • wheelchair
  • walker
  • potty chair
  • cane

If so, please contact Jessica Swift in the church office.
Are you interested in being a Sunday School teacher?

Sunday School will be online on zoom for the foreseeable future as we continue to navigate the pandemic together. GSP kids will be doing their third and final year of the LOVE FIRST curriculum. It's a beautiful opportunity to show young people how to Love God, Love Self, and Love Neighbor. In addition to your desire to nurture our youngest members, you would need to be open to learning zoom and taking the Episcopal Church's Safeguarding training online. We have a great team of children's leaders and would love for more to join! Leading Sunday School is a great way to enhance your own understanding of God.

If you are interested, please contact Jessica at [email protected]
Faith Climate Justice Voter Campaign---Help GOTV!

The 2020 elections could not be more significant. The outcome will set the course on climate change for years to come. On top of that, we are in the midst of a global pandemic, a major recession, record joblessness, and our nation is in turmoil over police killings that have exposed the  deep inequities and racial injustice in our nation. We must get out the vote!

With the crucial 2020 election approaching, our big campaign between now and November is the Faith Climate Justice Voter Campaign.  We are asking people to pledge to do two things:  #1 vote and #2 vote with climate justice in mind. We are looking for congregations and faith-based organizations to help us get the word out and are hoping you can join us in the journey.

We can each support the release of immigrants from Arizona detention centers. The Welcome Center of Casa Alitas will need drivers as well as in-house hospitality volunteers. If you are not in the at-risk category, please consider signing up for these essential tasks! Check out this video describing the Welcome Center in the age of COVID:    https://drive.google.com/file/d/1NR2v5kvdmU4YVVSB5odpjmU_p07rAPOR/view?ts=5f0e239c

Alert Congress. Call for hearings and investigations by members of the House & Senate .  Support the Fight. The Florence Project and thier partners are suing over the conditions in detention centers and demanding the release of vulnerable migrants. They have filed over 100 humanitarian parole requests for people considered high-risk for complications from COVID-19. Visit https://firrp.org to support their work.
