Fall programs, mask-only exercise, theater survey +
(July 31, 2020) The Skokie Park District is now in Phase 4 of the Restore Illinois Plan. The following are reminders and updates for this week.
The Fall Program Guide is online now!

The Fall Program Guide is here and includes clickable links directly to each program on the district's registration site.

Registration Dates
Residents: August 15
Non-Residents: August 22

Temporarily moving the guide online-only will not only allow for last-minute changes to fall programming during the pandemic, it will also save the district thousands of dollars.

We understand that many Skokie residents will miss their printed seasonal program guide. We promise that when this crisis ends, we will get back to business as usual, putting these guides back in your homes, and in your hands.

New! Mask-required classes & workout times

Fitness First is rolling out a new mask initiative after recently surveying members regarding wearing masks while in classes and while working out. After analyzing the results of the survey, we have decided to add the following 'mask required' offerings to our schedule.

As of August 10:

Total Body Strength
Mondays, 7:30-8:30 a.m., Multi-Purpose Room

Spin
Wednesdays, 5:30-6:30 p.m.

Fitness First Time Blocks
Tuesdays, 8-9:30 a.m.
Thursdays, 4-5:30 p.m.
Fridays, 10-11:30 a.m.

During these classes and work out time blocks, all members and staff will be required to wear a mask at all times. These new offerings will provide members with an added level of comfort and safety when working out at Fitness First. The mask logo on our reservation calendar  signifies a 'mask required' class or time block. The schedule below is subject to change and additional 'mask required' offerings may be added.

As a reminder, during all other classes and work out time blocks, the following rules are required to be followed:
  • A face covering is REQUIRED while resting in between weight sets or exercises.
  • A face covering is REQUIRED while walking to and from exercise equipment.
  • 6-feet of social distancing is REQUIRED at all times.
  • A face covering is STRONGLY ENCOURAGED during exertion of energy while exercising.
  • A face covering is REQUIRED at all other times while in the building.
Thank you all for your valuable feedback and please stay healthy and strong!

Reminder: Park District COVID-19 Usage Guidelines

The Skokie Park District is currently operating in Phase 4 of the Restore Illinois Plan, allowing the district to open some of its facilities and run many programs this fall. In order that all park district users and district staff stay healthy and safe, the district has instituted the following safety measures (with some exceptions), recommended by the state and by the CDC (Centers for Disease Control):

Masks
Nothing helps reduce coronavirus cases like wearing a mask over your mouth and nose. The district requires this in all of its open facilities, especially in cases where patrons cannot maintain 6 feet of social distancing.

Social distancing
Whether indoors or outdoors, please maintain 6 feet of distance from anyone that does not shelter together in your home.

Self-Screening
Per CDC guidelines, district users and staff are required to stay home with COVID-19 symptoms including frequent coughing, fever, difficulty breathing, chills, muscle aches, sore throat, or recent loss of taste or smell.

Frequent Hand  Washing or Sanitizing
Facility patrons and staff are required to wash their hands often, especially before eating and after contact with public surfaces, or use alcohol-based hand sanitizers.

Group Sizes
Gatherings of 50 people or more are not allowed during Phase 4. Many district programs limit class sizes even further according to the size of the room or area in which the class is held. Social distancing is still required. (See above.)

Cleaning
In addition to regular daily cleaning, all Skokie Park District facilities are aggressively disinfected, including doorknobs, rails and high touch areas. Open facilities also provide restrooms for hand washing, as well as hand sanitizers.
