Eagle Scout Spotlight: Corinne Nicholson
For Everyone
Pacific Skyline Council highlights recent Eagle Scouts and their journeys to Eagle on our Eagle Scout Spotlight page. We hope their stories will be an inspiration to all Scouts for going for your dream! Meet Corinne, one of 10 young women in Pacific Skyline Council’s inaugural class of female Eagle Scouts. Corinne earned her Eagle at age 16 from Troop 301 in San Carlos and plans to attend the University of Southern California (USC) to pursue a degree in Biomedical Engineering. To learn more about Corinne, why Scouting matters to her, and about her Eagle Project, click here.

Would you like to be our next spotlight or do you know of someone who should be spotlighted? The spotlighted Eagle should fill out this questionnaire pdf, then send it and a few photos to Laurel Feddock and Martha Bowden.

Scouting Safely Update: Age-Appropriate Guidelines for Scouting Activities
The "Age-Appropriate Guidelines for Scouting Activities" has received an update and now includes age-appropriate guidelines for camping. That change will align with the upcoming update to the Guide to Safe Scouting—occurring Fall 2021. Age- and rank-appropriate guidelines have been developed based on many factors. Anyone planning activities outside of program materials or handbooks should ask this question: Is the activity appropriate for the age and for Scouting? Not every activity needs to be conducted. Please review the Age-Appropriate Guidelines for Scouting Activities found here

Cutter Scout Reservation Update
For Everyone
Cutter Scout Reservation remains closed. Professional cleanup efforts are nearly complete, but due to access issues (Highway 236 remains effectively closed) and the lack of electricity and potable water at camp, there is no timeline for reopening even for limited operations.

We suffered considerable damage including the total loss of Harkson lodge, warehouse, ranger’s house, water tower, generator fuel tanks, handicraft, archery range and multiple latrines and tent platforms in several campsites. Additionally, there is damage to the generator building, rifle range and the pool shower septic system. We are grateful that the troop service building and campfire circle were both undamaged.

While we recognize Scouts and Scouters are eager to get back to camp, the current priority is site safety and to complete professional clean-up efforts. We will share additional updates as the status changes. Your support, patience and concern are appreciated!

Does Your Unit Accept Online Applications? Has Your Unit Updated Your Pin?
For Unit Leadership
Families up and down the peninsula are looking to join Scouts! And the Number One way they find your unit is through BeAScout.org. This is also the preferred way to have new members join your unit! When families see your unit on the map, they have the option to contact you and APPLY TO YOUR UNIT--but you must have your BeAScout pin updated AND online applications turned on. Please take five minutes and update your pin at my.scouting.org. Instructions can be downloaded here. COR's can now designate a registered member of the unit to approve adult applications. The online system will collect all national and council fees. This means you will not have to bring any paperwork or fees to the office. We encourage every unit to use this functionality as the only way for new members to join! Full details here.
