Weekly Update

A Message from Principal Simpson

Diana

Dear Parents,

Happy 2023!! We are excited to be back in the building with your kids today! I hope everyone had a great break, feels refreshed, and is ready to get back into the swing of things.

This winter/spring promises to be fun for all of our staff and students, with sports, science fairs, social events and musicals. Our January virtue is Resolution. We’ll share more about that in next week's newsletter; but before that goes out, I wanted to encourage you to sit with your child(ren) and set some goals for the rest of the school year. I will be setting some goals as well, including a goal to encourage more volunteerism. There are many volunteer opportunities available in the building, at committee events, and even projects you can do at home. If you’re having trouble finding a volunteer opportunity that's a good fit for you, please let our Volunteer Coordinator, Michelle Bynum, or me know and we'll be happy to help you find options that work with your passions, talents and schedule. The benefits of having parents involved in all aspects of the school are immeasurable. Not only does it show your children your commitment to their education and school, it builds and strengthens our community.

I look forward to working with each of you to make BFA the best it can be in 2023!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Simpson

BFA's Guiding Principles
Mission:
Our mission is to create young adults with character like America's founding Renaissance man, Benjamin Franklin: well-read, scientifically curious, and civically engaged.

Vision:
Our students will excel academically through a challenging, sequenced curriculum that emphasizes math, science, the arts, and literacy. We will be a data-driven institution, focusing on individual students. Our students, teachers, parents, staff, and leaders will be held accountable for the success of our school. Finally, we recognize that an education is incomplete without fostering social emotional development, character, sports, and nature.

13 Virtues:
Temperance, Silence, Order, Resolution, Frugality, Industry, Sincerity, Justice, Moderation, Cleanliness, Tranquility, Purity and Humility.
