Dear Iowa State University Students,

At Iowa State University, we value your safety and wellbeing and take very seriously our commitment to being a place where you can succeed and thrive in a community free of discrimination, harassment, and intimidation.

As part of this commitment to your safety and wellbeing, all Iowa State students are asked to take a Sexual Assault Prevention course offered by EVERFI, a university partner whose mission is to help students address critical life skills.

This online course addresses the critical issue of sexual assault, relationship violence, stalking, and sexual harassment among students, faculty, and staff. Log-in to Canvas to take this course. You will find the course, “Sexual Assault Prevention” on your Canvas dashboard.
The course is offered in two parts. Part 1 takes 60 minutes or less and can be completed in multiple sessions. After you complete Part 1, you will be prompted 21 days later to complete Part 2. Part 2 will take 15-20 minutes to complete.

  • Sexual Assault Prevention Part 1 is available until Monday, September 6, 2021.
  • Sexual Assault Prevention Part 2 is available until Monday, September 27, 2021.

If you are a returning student and have completed this training before, please complete a refresher Sexual Assault Prevention course. You can access the course through Canvas. The refresher is offered every school year. If you are a returning student and have not previously completed this training be prepared to complete the entire course.

If you are a student employed at Iowa State University, you also need to complete “Building Supportive Communities – Title IX Training.” This will train employees how to identify and report sexual and interpersonal misconduct. This online program engages employees and raises their awareness about harassment and discrimination by explaining the law, as well as how to recognize harassment and discrimination, and report misconduct to the appropriate person.
