The NYC Mayor announced that the City will require proof of vaccination for indoor dining, gyms and performance venues starting August 16, with enforcement to start on September 13, 2021. Beautification and infrastructure improvements for the "Morris Park Community Garden" - thank you DEP!
The MPBID is conveying a big THANK YOU to DEP for reaching out and donating perennial plants used to beautify the sidewalk at 1000 Sacket Ave in front of the Morris Park Community Garden. We are grateful to Chris Woods for contacting us and organizing the plants transport to the location, and continuously helping us on a variety of projects.
Together with couple of hard working local volunteers we were able to beautify the sidewalk in front of the garden at 1000 Sacket Avenue, clean, plant over 2 days the donated plants, water the plants in several days.
Furthermore, upon consulting with the neighbors on that block and hearing their safety concerns (excessive littering, cars gathering at night, inappropriate behaviors, etc) MPBID informed the NYPD 49th Precinct. We also reached out to the DOT regarding lack of a light on the pole at Colden and Sacket. DOT conducted a study and approved installation of a light to improve safety conditions in front of the garden. We will continue working with the volunteer group and with all agencies on the ground to enhance this space for the community. MPBID will also explore options to create water access to the garden, along with repairs of the sidewalk, in collaboration with all partners. Once again special thanks to DEP and Chris Woods for the partnership!
