         ** FARM NEWS:
Finally, the asparagus started growing more the second week with needed rain and they are producing tender green and purple (depending on variety) spears. Also, we may have red ripe organic strawberries on Saturday. Your favorite strawberries, the sweet "Ruby June" variety, are looking good with lots of blooms and small green berries on the plants.  Hopefully, the cold nights will soon level off and turn warmer for more growth from both the asparagus and berries.

This week, we have so much wonderful certified organic LETTUCE, BEETS, and SWISS CHARD in the high tunnel greenhouse. Enjoy these while they are in season and producing. Tickets should go "live" for the small farmer fundraiser, Dinner in the Meadow, scheduled for Sunday, September 11th.
www.dinnerinthemeadow.org on April 15th. A ticket or two would make a wonderful gift for someone who loves eating fresh, healthy, and local.  Your business/family & friends could also sponsor a table for 8.. consider that option also.

Many of you have asked for a VISIT to our farm, so mark your calendar for Sunday, May 15th from 10:00 a.m. -- 6:00 p.m.! We will offer a walk around the farmhouse and Century old barns, describing the old commisonary and wellhouse, hen house, smoke house, Mule barn, Seed barn, and more. You will be able to drive down the road to the greenhouse and organic vegetable fields. Bring your cooler and stock up on organic ripe strawberries and asparagus along with meats. 'Brats on a bun" will be served for lunch if you like to eat lunch on the premises. We will be one stop on the "Women in Ag: Local Foods Tour" this day... so plan to visit other farms in Franklin County also on May 15th. Details coming... There is no charge to participate in the tour and visit the nine farms on the tour.

Thank you for your continued support of our Century Family Farm!
