HCC Alumni Entrepreneur Derrel Norris Pivots Fresh Tech Solutionz in Reponse to COVID19

HCC TV - Up to the Minute Interview

Sandra Louvier, Director of HCC Northwest's Center for Entrepreneurship discusses how the HCC Business Plan Competition has had to pivot due to COVID-19. Competition alum Derrell Norris, co-founder of Fresh Tech Solutionz demonstrates skills he learned to launch his own company and to develop Apps with resources for local businesses during the crisis.

I want to learn more on the financial aspects of things because I feel like I have the technical aspects unlock pretty much so I know the business plan was something that I incorporated all aspects of your business and I know how important that is. I just wanted to tighten that up and get my vision on the right path.

...Close of Article.......The best way people can help small businesses is buying products. Just one pecan pie from Three Brothers Bakery supports them, the pecan growers, the business that makes the tin, the business that makes the seal around the pie, and the business that produces  the cardboard box. Janice says the biggest priority now is jobs and keeping people employed. If you would like to check out Three Brothers Bakery or order from them, visit their website https://3brothersbakery.com

Local Woman Makes Face Masks From Antibacterial Fabric

KPRC 2 - HOUSTON - Men and women are on the front lines battling the coronavirus in Houston, while there is a major shortage of personal protective equipment. Megan Eddings, a local woman who also uses an antibacterial fabric for her fitness apparel line, is now using the same material to make masks.
Eddings says you can wash these masks 100 times and they will still be 98% effective against the corona virus. Based here in Houston, she is manufacturing 9,000 masks per day and has the capacity to produce 90,000 masks locally.  She is currently in conversations with MD Anderson and other major medical providers throughout Houston.
Megan Eddings, owner of Accel Lifestyle is also the 2018 Winner of the HCC Business Plan Competition.
Prema Anti-Bacterial Masks are also on sale to the public.

2020 HCC Business Plan Competition Training Sessions Go Virtual

Training Session #3 Sales & Marketing Delivered by Austin Tenette

Our 2020 HCC Business Plan Competition Training Session #3 wrapped up with nearly 100 contestants and advisors VIRTUALLY on April 1, no joke!  The Topic was Sales, Marketing & Pivoting Your Business & Plans in Response to COVID 19.  It was Part 3 of Session 3 which was delivered over five days as follows: 1) Recorded video lessons and questions for each team to apply to their businesses; 2) mini virtual team meetings (3-6 persons each) with contestants and their advisors to discuss and apply learnings to their businesses; and 3) two virtual WebEx Group Sharing/Q&A sessions for 1/2 of the 2020 Contestant teams and Advisors to share about how their marketing and sales is playing out now, and plans for the future.  We had an evening session for ½ the teams and advisors on 3/31 and a daytime session for the other half on 4/1 to allow for time preference and a manageable group sharing size of 50 for each session which allowed more time for each participant to share.
