Dear Normandale Families,

Normandale staff and students survived AND thrived during the first two days of school! It was fun to see most of our students reunited in one physical, not virtual space. The first few days of school are typically filled with new faces and routines. This year has been no different.

Some of the new faces include our French interns. Thanks to a lot of hard work and networking from the Intern Committee, we now have nine interns at Normandale. Two more interns will arrive next week and we are waiting on visa approval for three more. This great resource for our students and staff will be shared across classrooms and grade-levels.

Teachers, interns, students and yes, parents all have to learn new routines at the beginning of the school year. This year our biggest change in routine is related to lunch. In an effort to reduce the spread of COVID-19, students that bring a cold lunch from home will eat outside. Because we have assigned seats in the cafeteria for contact tracing purposes, any student that brings a cold lunch to school must eat outside. We assume that parents are sending their student(s) to school with a cold lunch because they want them to eat outside. We will follow this plan as long as MN weather cooperates and parent volunteers show up. Please note that we will be eating in the cafeteria on rain days.

COVID/ ILLNESS REPORTING FORM

The Minnesota Department of Health is requesting that schools continue to track COVID related cases among their student population.

Please fill out this form to report ALL illness symptoms (even if you don't think they are COVID related), a positive COVID case or a quarantine due to close contact. An EPS staff member will then follow up with you.

Monitoring the number of cases within the district is an important factor in determining when it will be safe to return to in-person learning.

Thank you, and stay safe.
