Hometown Hero - Penny Gilman
Shoutout to special education teacher Ms. PennyGilman who was recently named a Hometown Hero of the week by Pacific Media Group and Maui Health. The ‘Hometown Heroes in Maui County’ program recognizes everyday heroes in the local community who selflessly serve others in big and small ways throughout the Covid-19 pandemic.

Gilman was recognized for her dedication to students in Maui High’s Community Dream School program, a continuation program that serves non-diploma tracked students ages 18-21 to assist in transition to adulthood. Gilman herself created the program and worked to secure grant funding. She and her team work face-to-face with students daily, educating and equipping them with everyday life skills.
Way to go Ms. Gilman! Mahalo for your leadership and service.
