Dear River Forest Residents,

Now is the time of the season when many of us are heading out of town to enjoy summer vacations. If you have a getaway planned, consider reaching out to the Police Department to schedule a vacation watch while you are gone. Simply call the non-emergency number at (708) 366-7125.

If you’re staying around town, you can take advantage of the beautiful Forest Preserves of Cook County. There are dozens of events each week at a variety of locations - including at the Trailside Museum of Natural History, right here in River Forest. You can find more information here.

River Forest Vaccination Rates

Click here and select 'Data by Town' for the most current River Forest vaccine data. Click here for percentages of fully vaccinated individuals across the state. Both pre-scheduled and walk-in appointments are still available at several locations, and homebound suburban Cook County residents can learn more about receiving the vaccine in their homes here.

Vehicle Sticker Deadline

is July 14

The 2021-2022 vehicle stickers must be purchased and affixed to windshields by Wednesday, July 14 to avoid late fees and citations. Vehicles registered in Illinois with a River Forest address must also register with the Village through the purchase of a vehicle sticker. Click here to renew or for more information.

Historic Preservation Award Call for Nominations

The nomination deadline for the Historic Preservation Commission’s 2021 Historic Preservation Awards is Friday, July 30. Eligible homeowners, architects or contractors who have completed qualifying jobs in River Forest since January 1, 2016 can find more information or apply here.

Curbside Composting

The River Forest Curbside Composting Program is one of the first of its kind in Illinois, and offers residents the ability to divert food waste from the waste stream. Residents who opt into this program are provided with one 64-gallon cart along with one kitchen caddy.
