Football Falls in a Thriller in Return to 2A

Varsity Football finally got their opportunity to return to 2A, 11 man football, and proved they belong. In a back and forth game, they eventually fell to Glendale Prep on a late 2-Pt conversion, 58-57. The Chargers racked up over 600 yards of offense. JR QB Matthew McClelland had 326 passing yards and 290 rushing yards, to go along with 7 touchdowns. What a performance! Senior WR Owen Kremer totaled 226 receiving yards in his 2A debut. The Chargers next travel to Miami on Friday 10/16. spectators are limited to (4) family members of coaches and athletes. 

Based on his performance, Matthew is a finalist for AZ Central Performer of the Week. You can vote (as many times as you can!) at the following link. Voting ends Wednesday at Noon. 


Varsity Swim Update 

The Chargers swam against ALA on Monday of fall break. Sloan McLellan placed first in the 50 free and 2nd in the 100 fly. 

The Chargers next competition is a Great Hearts District Meet on 10/24 @ Apollo. Their opportunity to qualify for States will be in a sectional meet with details TBD. 

Varsity Volleyball Begins Busy Stretch 

The Chargers begin yet another busy week in 2A Volleyball. They will try to avenge an early season loss to Gilbert Classical on Tuesday at home. They then travel to Rancho Solano Wednesday and are back home to host Lincoln Prep on Friday. The young and developing group, led by Coach Warren, have gotten off to a 3-3 start as they head into the main stretch of the season. All start times this week are 5pm for JV and 6pm for Varsity. The Great Hearts spectator policy is still in effect, limiting us to (4) family members per athlete or Coach. You can also get into matches by volunteering at our check in table and concessions. HS Cross Country: Titan Invite Results 

The Chargers ran at the Titan Invite on Thursday of fall break, at Crossroads Park in Gilbert. Our top finishers were Wes Lanniuer for the boys, clocking in at 17:28 (15th place,) and Grace Stoops, who finished in 23:16. Full results for the Varsity races can be found here:


The Chargers will return to Crossroads Park on 10/23 for the Showdown at Sundown Phoenix Classic. Stay tuned for spectator details!

Matthew McClelland - JR- Varsity Football 

JR QB Matthew McClelland had 326 passing yards and 290 rushing yards, to go along with 7 touchdowns. He also had 5 tackles and an interception on defense. Matthew leads with words and actions, sacrifices for the team, and helped prove Arete belongs in 2A! What a performance! Congratulations Matthew.

Visit East Valley Sports to Order Your Varsity Jacket!
You may now visit East Valley Sports (6306 East Main Street, Mesa, 85205) to inquire about ordering an Arete Prep Varsity Jacket. We have redesigned the Varsity Letter that was distributed at Fall Sports Awards. Please keep in mind that jackets take 7-8 weeks for production. We are very excited to see school pride represented in Varsity Jackets around campus! Jackets are dress code approved but may only be worn by the owner.

REGISTRATION FOR A SPORT


1. Complete the Athletic Online Enrollment. (Must be completed by a parent/guardian.) 

2. Every athlete must submit a physical on the approved AIA Physical Forms. Physicals are good for 12 months and must be resubmitted annually. 

3. Submit the athletic fee. All middle school sports (including archery) are $250. All high school sports are $290. Select Online Payment to pay by debit/credit card online, or you may submit cash, check, or money to the front office. 

4. (HS ONLY) If not previously completed, every high school athlete must complete the Brainbook Concussion Course. The AIA will notify Arete electronically once the student has successfully completed the course. High school athletes are required to complete this course only once during their high school career. 

All items must be completed and turned in before your student may participate in their sport.
