From Sam Beshers & Lynn Wiley: Joy for our new puppy, Booker, who arrived home last Sunday, and for our daughter Caroline and her friend Kate, who came down from Chicago to goo all over him.
From Sandy Finnerty, Karen Folk, Priscilla Kron, Michele McNabb, and Kathryn Poterfield: Our good friend Susan Thrasher, former member of this church, died yesterday at her home in Oxford, Ohio after several months on hospice. She did both life and death her way, choosing joy and caring over despair. She had a peaceful end to a well-lived life. We are blessed to have remained her good friends for so many years
From Chris Hannauer: It was so moving to hear this wonderful choir perform live in this space again. It just felt *right*.
From Jim & Sandy Hannum: Happy Birthday, Juan (our pianist)
From Jack: Sister getting better cancer
From Katie Madigan: Joy for being back in this space with my community and on a sunny, spring morning! (Don't forget to donate to the auction.)
From Anne & Dave Sharpe: Anne's younger sister, Mary, died peacefully Wednesday morning in Rochester, New York. She died 10 days after being diagnosed with acute leukemia.

SOCIAL ACTION OFFERING FOR APRIL 2022

RACES is the only agency dedicated to serving the needs of survivors of sexual violence in Champaign, Ford, Piatt and Douglas Counties. RACES provides counseling, court advocacy, medical advocacy, and runs a 24 hour Rape Crisis Hotline. Pre-pandemic, the agency provided counseling and advocacy services to more than 225 survivors of sexual assault each year, including supporting more than 75 people annually during the hospital medical exam and evidence collection process. RACES’ services are attuned to the needs of survivors from historically marginalized communities, including LGBTQ+ individuals.
Sexual Assault Prevention Education is an important part of the agency’s vision to end sexual violence in our lifetime: pre-pandemic, the educators reached over 4,000 children, youth and adults each year through age-appropriate prevention programs. The agency is working to match these numbers as more in-person interactions become safe. READ MORE

During the month of February, our shared offering was able to raise $2015 that was donated to The CU Schools Foundation.
The CU Schools Foundation is the only organization dedicated to supporting creativity, innovation and excellence in Champaign-Urbana public schools. They do so by providing grants to teachers as well as scholarships to students. Schools’ role in the lives of students and families was made apparent during the pandemic of the past 22 months. As the impact of the pandemic improves, the challenges facing teachers, students and their families will continue. The financial support provided by CUSF allows teachers to do what they are uniquely skilled at: responding to student and family needs in individual, direct and innovative ways.
