Weekly Update from Fr. Tom
October 8, 2020

Dear Friends,

New Information:

Eucharistic Adoration Beginning October 22, 2020, the Feast of St. John Paul II we will resume a limited time for Eucharistic Adoration. On that day, and every Thursday-Friday after that day, we will have adoration beginning Thursday morning about 9:00 a.m. and continue until the noon Mass on Friday. Please stop by St. Joe Hill Chapel during that time and spend time with the Lord.

Turkey Shoot Raffle Thanks to everyone who has sold Turkey Shoot raffle tickets. Over 460 envelopes have been turned in (our goal is 600); ticket sales have just topped $43,000 (our goal is $60,000). It is not too late to help us reach our goals. The drawing will be held Sunday after the 11:15 a.m. Mass—about 12:30 p.m.-12:45 p.m. We are tentatively planning on doing the drawing out in the parking lot at St. Paul. You are welcome to join us (please practice social distancing if you choose to do so.) That will also be the final opportunity to turn in tickets or to buy more tickets. Currently the 50/50 drawing has sold $4612.00 which puts the winner’s portion at $2306. I imagine in the end it will pay more than the Big Money raffle. Thanks again and see you on Sunday—either live or on Facebook Live.

Livestreaming of Daily Masses: I was able to find a way to continue to Livestream our daily Masses so those will continue beyond this week (unless I am away for some reason).

Repeat Announcements:

Return to Normal?! Even as I typed that I chuckled as to what normal will look like in the future. Nonetheless, beginning October 10-11 we will be making a few changes as we return to a more normal way of celebrating the Eucharist.
  1. Communion will return to the normal time. The communion flow will be a little different and will be explained at the beginning of each Mass for the next couple of weeks.
  2. I will start to include the words: Let us offer each other a sign of peace. When I do this I simply invite you to continue what you are already doing—a hug or kiss to your own family and a wave or bow to everyone else around. Please stay in your pews for this physically distant sign of peace.
  3. I will return to reading the Gospel from the Ambo, and I will continue to preach from in front of the Altar.
  4. We will have one server carry the cross and ring the bells at each Mass. If your son/daughter is a server and wants to be included in this rotation please contact Jesse and let him know your child’s name and which Mass you generally attend. Adult servers are welcome as well.
