Visit Sunny Sequim

Outdoor Adventure
With all the restrictions we need to follow to stay safe due to the COVID 19 pandemic, people are spending a lot more time outside and taking advantage of the gorgeous scenery and enjoying outdoor activity. Here are a few ideas of how to make the most of your visit to Sequim while staying safe and healthy.

Take a Walk on the Beach

The Dungeness Spit is the longest natural sandspit in North America.

The Dungeness Spit and National Wildlife Refuge on the northern edge of Sequim is the longest natural sand spit in the nation, flowing 5.5 miles out into the Strait of Juan de Fuca. The hike starts with a walk through a lush forest before opening up with breathtaking views of the Spit and Strait before you reach the beach. A hike to the end will reward you with a visit to the New Dungeness Lighthouse, in operation since 1857. But you don't need to walk all the way to the end to enjoy the salty air, sandy beach, and beautiful scenery. Stroll as far as you are comfortable.

Port Williams Beach offers a peaceful stroll along the quiet shores of Sequim Bay.

If you're looking for a less vigorous beach experience, the Marlyn Nelson County Park, better known here as Port William Beach, offers a peaceful beach setting along the quiet shores of Sequim Bay. Make a day of it and bring a picnic lunch. Bring your kayak and take a paddle through the calm waters, or just settle in on a driftwood log and enjoy the scenery.

Take to the Woods

The Olympic National Forest is in Sequim's backyard and offers an excellent outdoor opportunity on your visit to Sequim. Take a hike along the upper Dungeness River through the Buckhorn Wilderness. There are a variety of trails to choose from ranging in elevation from 1000 feet to over 7000 feet.
