What Jodi Picoult and I Have in Common

We didn't plan it this way, but one of my favorite authors and I both have novels coming out on September 22, 2020.

Jodi's book is called "The Book of Two Ways" and I was fortunate to read an ARC (advance reader copy) via NetGally last month. While I didn't enjoy it as much as her other novels, it was a fascinating read, especially if you are interested in archaeology and ancient Egypt.

Dragonflies at Night: More Than a Love Story takes place in Massachusetts and California, not quite as "exotic" as Jodi's book, but they are definitely appropriate settings for our romantic leads— Ben and Savannah.
Why is September 22 Significant
in Dragonflies at Night?

I chose 9/22 as the "landing" date for my novel because it's a meaningful date for Savannah, as it is the date that her mother died from breast cancer when Savannah was only fifteen. As the story progresses, Savannah sees the numbers 922 coming up frequently, particularly on her digital clocks.

September 22 also happens to be the date of Ben's goddaughter Carly, and as you read, you'll see the special meaning that Carly holds for Savannah. Those scenes with Carly were some of my favorite to write (and, even now, to read)!

And there is one other significant thing that happens on September 22 in Savannah's story, but you'll have to read the book to find out!
Special Offer:
Pre-Order A Signed Paperback

If you'd like your very own SIGNED copy, you can pre-order by visiting this page of my author website.

As the book doesn't officially "land" until—you guessed it—9/22, I will be mailing them out on 9/21.

Limited copies available. When they are gone, this offer is gone!
The plot unfolds at a measured pace that allows the character arcs
and relationships to develop genuinely.
The interludes from Deirdre Rose and Savannah
add a level of complexity and deeper emotion to the plot
that will likely delight readers.
