From the Health Office
Hello Northwood Families,
I am hopeful we are trending away from Flu, RSV, and cold season. However, we seem to have arrived at stomach bug season. It seems every February we have an increase in stomach bug cases, and this February is no exception. The CDC has shown an increase in Norovirus cases across the United States, and that may be what we are seeing here as well. So, I wanted to provide a little information for families.
Norovirus symptoms include diarrhea, vomiting, nausea and stomach pain. Prevention strategies include washing your hands, staying home (CDC recommends for two days), and cleaning surfaces. Norovirus is resistant to many hand sanitizers- so soap and water is recommended.
More information can be found here, as well as the bulletin below.
