From Our Head of School
Dear Prince Families:

Your response to our School Reopening Plan published in last week’s Wolverine Weekly has been overwhelmingly supportive, and our faculty and staff continue to work diligently to ensure we are prepared to receive students on August 10th! New teachers report for orientation later this week, and all our faculty and staff will be back on campus next week starting August 3rd. On August 6th and 7th, we are holding scaled-down back to school welcomes for all lower school parents; for middle school and high school, we are orienting new students (only) with each respective principal communicating directly with parents about those back to school events.

The CDC published a back to school update last week, and despite what you hear and read from the media, the report was very favorable. Aside from summarizing the positive impact a traditional school environment has upon a student emotionally, socially, and academically (and in our case, spiritually), the report’s conclusion stated, “…COVID-19 poses low risks to school-aged children,” and “children are unlikely to be major drivers of the spread of the virus.” While that is encouraging news, we will be taking every precaution outlined in our detailed School Reopening Plan to ensure the safety and health of our students and faculty remain our number one priority.

While many of us look forward to “the day when things return to normal,” I was reminded from the pulpit this morning that we should not put our trust and confidence in a day that will come but in our Savior who HAS come. We all know how the race ends; let’s remain thankful for the blessings we do have and continue to live our lives with joy, thankfulness, and patience as we prepare to start the school year.

Varsity Boys Basketball
From Athletic Director Richard Ricketts:
A couple of weeks ago Will Cantrell departed Prince Avenue for a new job at Salem High School in Salem, Indiana. This is a wonderful opportunity for Coach Cantrell. He has contributed greatly to our basketball program. We wish him and his family the best as they transition to a new location.

I am very excited to announce that our own Brandon Jones has been named Interim Head Coach. Coach Jones brings a wealth of basketball knowledge and is one of the most loved members of our school faculty.  I look forward to seeing great things from him and our boys basketball program. Congratulations Coach Jones!
