(H)artful
Greetings!

IT'S MY BIRTHDAY!

Well! Summer seems to have lasted 10 seconds!

Apologies for no newsletter in August, I’ll make it up to you with an awesome promo below that my awesome assistant Fatimah cooked up for my BIRTHDAY! ;) Crazy to think I’m 33, it doesn’t feel like it was that long ago that I discovered shotgunning beers, but that was the 20’s lol.

Since July 14th Coal and I have been on the road, giving out hugs to our friends we haven’t been able to see since 2019! We’re loving the gypsy life, exploring around Ontario and discovering that we’re ready for a move from the big city to hopefully a place we can call our own on a lake somewhere in the bush.

So far our travels have taken us to Sault Ste. Marie, Wawa, Thunder Bay, and back home to Red Lake! I used to think I HAD to be in Toronto in order for the business to work, but the work has still been coming in and what I’m trying to start being more mindful of is creating a life that I don’t need to take a vacation from. I’m sure from my insta, it seems like I am, but learning how to shut my mind off and just RELAX, isn’t always the easiest when you’re self employed. That being said, I hope you take some time to yourself this fall to take stock of the beauty around you, (unless you live in Sudbury, then you should get the fuck outta there lol, jk, it’s nice there ;) )

It’s crazy to think we only have a few more months left of this year. I’ve done a SHIT load of growing and can’t wait to get to talk about some of the projects my lips have to be sealed about. One thing that I can talk about is getting to design a helmet for Marc-Andre Fleury! He just got traded to the Blackhawks, who I’ve done some artwork for their land acknowledgement earlier this year. (I haven’t really watched hockey since 2006 when I had a huge crush on Jarome Iginla, but I’m definitely tuning in this year.)

I’m one of “those people” on my laptop on a patio right now, so I think I’m gonna sign off. Thanks so much for all of your support, thanks for the birthday wishes and I hope you have a wonderful September.

XO,

Patrick

What We've Been Up To
It has been a busy summer. Luckily with things opening again, we were able to participate in 3 different festivals. We want to thank all the supporters old and new that came out to support and show us love. We want to thank Maj, Khadejah and Jesse for helping us with transportation and assisting in the booths.

The first was Whitchurch-Stouffville Art in the Park. Despite the rescheduling, the pandemic and it being a rainy day; we had an amazing time and many came out to show us so much love and support. We will definitely be participating next year.
At the last minute while Patrick was back home visiting family in Red Lake, they decided to bring back the Red Lake Summer Festival. Once again the support was overwhelming and Patrick even got a chance to meet Indigineous singer-songwriter William Prince.
While Patrick was schmoozing with Canadian royalty, I was working at the Bronte Arts Market in Oakville. Mother Nature blessed us with sun for most of the day and we met many new friends. We will be back at their October market.

Everyone knows Patrick loves inspiring young minds. While back home in Red Lake, he had the chance to spend the morning with the lil’ artists of Ear Falls Summer Camp. Coal even participated in the discussion.
There’s an Orange Shirt shortage. Patrick made another appearance on Breakfast Television to discuss the upgrade design and talk about the progress being made. So far Indian Residential Schools Society has raised $100,000 in 2020 and $200,000 to date. Let’s keep this energy going. Keep supporting, keep learning and keep educating. Let’s make sure every child is accounted for.
Keep Your Eyes Open For
Award season is coming up and Patrick is nominated for 2 awards this year.

The first is the CANIE Awards for this year's Indigenous Entrepreneur of the Year. We'll find out next month if he won.

He's also nominated for CGLCC's Young LGBT+ Entrepreneur of the Year, fingers crossed he wins it in November.
