Aquila's Tool Of The Week ~ Chair Lift/Dip/Wall Sit

Each week, students and staff will focus on a tool that helps them with their social emotional well-being. This week's tool is called Chair Lift/Dip/Wall Sit.

Seated:

  • Chair Lifts: Place your hands on the seat of the chair. Press down and lift yourself up off the chair. Hold here for a few breaths.
  • Chair Dips: Holding yourself slightly off the chair, lift yourself up and down 3-5 times. Rest and take a few breaths.

Standing:

  • Stand with your back against the wall. Walk your feet out as you bend your knees. Hold here as you breathe slowly.

Pajama Drive Update

In December, Aquila Teachers' Kim Stadler and Tanya Rae-Schmidt held a pajama drive. They will be dropping off 106 pairs of pajamas to the Fostering Love Project who partner with the Great Pajama Bedtime Story Drive. Special thanks to Jennie Bishop and Samantha Osmundson's classes. District News ~ Share The Mic Podcast: Idle Free SLP Campaign

December's Share the Mic Podcast was with Suwaydah Aden, Erin Enright, and Ibtisam Ahmed whose climate action project inspired the Idle Free SLP Campaign.

Seventh Graders Suwaydah Aden, Erin Enright, and Ibtisam Ahmed coined the term "Idle-Free SLP" during their Climate Action presentation last spring during science class. Their slogan and presentation have since served as inspiration for a new initiative in St. Louis Park to reduce carbon emissions in parking lots all across St. Louis Park. Listen to episodes 1-3 on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.

  • Reinstall the app by downloading the app from the App Store/Google Play Store.
  • Once the app is installed, open the app and it should land in the page which asks for the District Code.
  • Do not enter the District Code, rather click on the link “Where is my district code?” below the District Code

District News ~ Emails & Phone Recordings in Spanish or Somali

Families can now receive district-level communications (emails and phone recordings) in a preferred language such as Spanish or Somali. Some families currently receive messages in Spanish or Somali and may wish to receive information in English.

If you wish to update your language preferences, please contact your school and ask that the preferred guardian language be updated in our student information system (PowerSchool). This will ensure you receive district-level communications such as closures and emergencies in your preferred messages.

Whenever possible, we will do our best to ensure SLP phone recordings go out in your preferred language.
