Hot Springs Village continues to keep our members informed on the latest information about COVID-19 locally and in the state of Arkansas. Currently, we are continuing to follow Phase 2 Directives from the Arkansas Department of Health.

Protect yourself from COVID-19 while getting gas:
  • If available, use disinfecting wipes on handles and buttons of gas pump before you touch them.
  • After you get gas and pay, use a hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol.
  • Wash your hands for at least 20 seconds with soap and water when you get to your destination.
   
State of Arkansas  
 
Arkansas passed another grim milestone on Sunday, passing 400 reported deaths due to COVID-19 in the state.      
 
There were 732 new cases detected on Saturday and 642 cases on Sunday, making the total 1,374 over the weekend. There were five deaths reported on Saturday and two on Sunday, bringing the weekend total to seven.  
 
Today, seven more deaths were reported by the governor, bringing the state's total to 408.  
 
It took Arkansas 68 days to reach its first 100 deaths after the first case was detected on March 11. It took 31 days, May 18-June 18, to reach the next 100 deaths. After that, Arkansas reached 300 deaths on July 7, 19 days later. It took another 19 days for Arkansas to reach 400. This means Arkansas is averaging 3 deaths a day over the last 138 days that the first case of COVID-19 detected in Arkansas.  
 
The state has reported 824 cases in the last 24 hours, of those 10 are in prisons and 814 are in the community at large.  
Of the cases reported today, 120 were in Pulaski County. The state's total of positive cases is now 39,447. 
 
The state's hospitalizations saw an increase of nine people, bringing that total to 489. Of the 489 people hospitalized, 105 are on ventilators.  
 

As of today, 6,674 cases are considered active with 81 in nursing homes, 294 in correctional facilities and 6,299 in the community.   
 
Hutchinson announced a $10 million Emergency Relief Fund for WiFi access points for students across Arkansas. This will provide approximately 20,000 devices with up to 24 months of high-speed unlimited data. Read more about that here

As of July 27 at 2:30 p.m., the United States deaths attributed to COVID-19 are 146,546.

Saline & Garland Counties 
As of 2:30 p.m. Monday, 777 people have tested positive for COVID-19 in Saline County, an increase of 76 since county numbers were last reported in the Friday Village Digest. Of those, 596 have recovered and 178 of the total cases are considered active. The number of deaths remains at three.
 
Garland County currently has 695 cumulative cases of COVID-19, an increase of 146 since numbers were last reported in Village Digest. So far, 457 people are considered recovered and 233 cases are considered active. Total deaths remain at five.
