A Message From Our Principal | |
Dear Tolt Families,
We’re so proud of our students for working hard to finish 1st semester strong! Our students and staff are looking forward to starting 2nd semester on Monday -- new schedules were distributed in 6th period classes today (schedules are also available in Skyward). Tomorrow is a no school day for students so teachers can work on report cards, which will be sent home with students later this month.
Recently, we've enjoyed having families on our campus to visit our Discovery Engineering, 6th Grade Strand Choir, and Robotics classes. These interactive experiences allowed our students to show their families the fun and interesting projects they do here at school. It's always great to see families on our campus!
Next week, Tolt and Cedarcrest choir/band teachers and students will be visiting our Riverview elementary schools to perform a special program for students. We appreciate the opportunity to support music in our schools with this fun Music Recruiting Tour.
We are happy to share that the water fountains throughout campus have been turned on. Our water bottle fillers are still available as well, located in the Gym, MPR, LRC, H building, and J building. We are thrilled that our water fountains are again available!
Starting next week, we will be changing our health room flow so students who need health support will go straight to our main office to see Nurse Rachel in our health room. Students will no longer go to the attendance office for health concerns. This should help us to best meet the health needs of our students.
I hope you have a restful and enjoyable three-day weekend.
Go Bears!
Amie Karkainen, Principal

MAP Winter Assessments were completed 1/24 & 1/25 in ELA classes and 1/31 & 2/1 in math classes. Please note the following dates for make-up MAP assessments. If your student(s) missed any assessments please help them prepare for the make-up days.
Make-up MAP assessments are 2/6-2/8 in the library
How can you best prepare your child for these assessments?
- Have your student at school, all day, every day unless they are ill. If possible, please plan or rearrange medical/dental appointments to not interfere with the make-up testing dates.
- Students should come to school well-rested and having eaten their breakfast, so their brains are in full-drive mode!
- Students must arrive at school with laptops fully charged, a pair (or two!) of earbuds/headphones that attach directly to their laptop (wireless earbuds are not allowed for testing) and a silent reading book.

Now is a great time to replenish your student(s) school supplies. Second semester begins on Monday, February 6th. Items that typically need to be restocked are pens, pencils, paper and/or any items frequently used. Thank you for helping set up our students for success!

Robotics Class
Mr. McFarland's 1st and 2nd period Robotics class built and programmed carnival games/arcade machines. Families and staff attended the carnival and had a great time playing the games, earning tickets and getting great prizes like coffee, candy and donuts! It was very impressive to see and experience the work these students put into their unique games/machines. Great job, Robotics students!
