As your Mayor, I want to ensure you that your local government is taking every step possible to help Laguna Niguel businesses thrive during these unprecedented times. My City Council colleagues and I have been working proactively with State and County partners on phased reopening plans for our business community.

From the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, our City has proactively supported Laguna Niguel businesses by launching an Economic Recovery Team; providing businesses the flexibility to utilize outdoor spaces through no-cost Temporary Use Permits; and via strong promotion of and guidance through County, State, and Federal grant and loan assistance programs. To further complement our efforts in helping local businesses, on January 19, 2021, my Council colleagues and I established a City Council Economic Recovery/COVID-19 Ad Hoc Committee. Working on your behalf, we teamed up with the Laguna Niguel Chamber of Commerce to launch and promote the Shop and Dine Laguna Niguel Campaign.

I am also happy to report that by promoting and assisting businesses with applying for the County’s Business Grant Program, more than 170 Laguna Niguel businesses have received a total of $1,646,160 – and an additional $2 million will be available from the County in the coming days.

To ensure we understand the individual needs of each Laguna Niguel business, the impacts of COVID-19, and how we can best serve our business community, we have developed a brief online survey at www.cityoflagunaniguel.org/businesssurvey. Please take a moment to respond to the survey and provide us with your contact information so we can offer valuable resources and services to support your needs.

These are certainly challenging times, but we are excited about the progress our community has made to help flatten the curve and slow the spread of COVID-19. Thank you for your tremendous efforts, patience, and compassion during this time and for being an essential part of the fabric of Laguna Niguel.

Sincerely,

Mayor Fred Minagar
