It seems the older I get; history becomes so important. Through history, we can learn how past societies, systems, ideologies, governments, cultures, and technologies were built, how they operated, and how they have changed. The rich history of the world helps us to paint a detailed picture of where we stand today. Therefore, after my recent visit and research on Ganahl Lumber Company, I was in awe and intrigued by their history and would like to share it with you.
Ganahl Lumber Company is the oldest lumberyard in all of California. In 1884, an Austrian immigrant named Christian Ganahl, and his brother Frank moved to Los Angeles from St. Louis where they... Read More

City of Torrance to Commemorate the 20th Anniversary of 9/11
|
|
Torrance, Calif., August 31, 2021 – The City of Torrance invites the community to commemorate the 20th Anniversary of 9/11 on Saturday, September 11 at 5:46 a.m. in front of Torrance City Hall, 3031 Torrance Blvd. During this ceremony, victims, survivors, families, and first responders directly affected by the terrorist attacks will be honored.
Mayor Patrick J. Furey said, “We must never forget the tragic events of 9/11, the long-lasting repercussions in our Country and on individual lives. Each anniversary should be a day of mourning, remembrance… a reminder of our sacrifices, recovery, and hope. Generations too young to remember or experience that day need to understand the significance.”
The City asks those who attend to please wear masks in consideration of the pandemic. The event will also be streamed live on Torrance’s Official Facebook page @TorranceCA to watch from the comfort of your home.
