CONVENTION NEWS & NOTES
Dr. Richard Fountain, NCTM, President-Elect
It’s the middle of April already…which means there are only eight weeks until Convention! The excitement is growing daily as we make all of the final arrangements. Sometimes it’s hard to stop and appreciate how wonderful it will be to have our first in-person convention in three years.
In this newsletter I’d like to highlight a few of the inspiring session topics that you’ll be able to explore in Dallas. We’ll have traditional favorites like the Ensemble Reading Sessions on Friday and Sunday, Saturday’s “Tex Talks”, and the Independent Music Teachers Forum on Sunday. You’ll also hear from presenters focusing on teaching special-needs and “twice-exceptional” students, dealing with performance anxiety, integrating mindfulness techniques into the teaching studio, and several perspectives on our newfound abilities to teach using digital technology!
You’ll also want to make plans to attend our three General Sessions on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Besides Dr. Alan Walker’s keynote address on Friday, which is sure to be memorable, we have several important items of business to discuss! You will want to participate as we address several proposed bylaw changes and hear important reports from our TMTA officers.
