JUNE 10-17, 2023
NWIL - Funding the Mission & The Great Commission

For generations, Nazarenes have supported the World Evangelism Fund. Working together, we accomplish so much as the Body of Christ. Become a part of missions work and partner with the Church of the Nazarene to make Christlike disciples in the nations. In the Funding the Mission plan, the World Evangelism Fund is the vehicle through which we deliver the message of hope - and your church drives that mission. JANUARY REPORT

Jeanne Schulze from Lost Lake Community Church has a creative way to support missions.

Every year I ask God for a word to revolve my Christmas around and keep me focused on Him during the busy season. I asked for the word early in October as i wanted to create a Christmas card that we could print in bulk and sell.  All proceeds would go to missions.  He graciously provided. The word he gave me was star.  "When they saw the STAR they rejoiced with exceedingly great joy." Matthew 2:10

I asked a church member who paints if she would illustrate a card.  She agreed with the same excitement as I had and we prayed. With gatherings being limited due to COVID, this was a great way to fundraise for missions. We advertised the cards in our bulletin, fliers, word of mouth, and made a flier that was mailed out to our congregation. The flier we mailed listed all  the people who would be blessed by getting a Christmas card. (I personally sent out 100 cards). The list included  friends, family, work staff, civil servants, postman, shut-ins, our doctors/dentist, missionaries we support, just about everyone we have contact with throughout the year. This act encouraged more card sending.

God knew the significance of the word as I later heard about the Bethlehem Star! Another confirmation of His great love and presence for us! Side note: We were going to show the movie The Star of Bethlehem in conjunction with the sale of the cards but COVID restricted that idea and God gave us the real Star of Bethlehem! He is Amazing!

With little effort, and mainly through our church members, we were supported and able to give 600.00 to Missions in December. The fundraiser built community in an isolating time. We were very blessed to join Him in this joyful effort.

NWIL ALLIES HAS A NEW NYI PRESIDENT

We would like to introduce you to our new District NYI
President, Rev. Josh Parker. Josh is originally from Colorado Springs, Colorado. He has been married to his beautiful wife, Ashley for six years. They love Saturday morning farmer's
market trips, coffee shops, shopping, and hikes outside with
their dog Willow. He loves working with teenagers and has a passion for leadership and the church. In his free time you'll
likely find him outdoors or engaging in some type of sport.
Josh is a graduate of Olivet Nazarene University where he majored in Religious Studies and minored in Business Administration. Josh has been the youth pastor at Pekin First Nazarene for six years and believes strongly in raising up the
next generation of leaders.

IMPORTANT UPDATE
Due to rising numbers of COVID cases and for the safety of our youth and youth workers, District Celebrate Life that was scheduled for February 27, 2021 has been cancelled. This was not an easy decision for our leadership to make. We prayed, had great conversation, and considered everyone's safety.

Regional CL at Olivet, May 13-15 is still being considered. It all depends on COVID regulations and the safety of all involved. If Regional CL is held, we are working on a way for our youth to be able to attend.

If you have any questions, please contact the district CL Director: office@nwilnaz.org Updates can be found at: nwilnaz.org

After much prayer and careful consideration, the USA/Canada Nazarene Youth International Regional Council announced it will move forward with Nazarene Youth Conference 2023 from July 5 through 9 in Tampa Bay, Florida. The decision was approved by the Board of General Superintendents in consultation with the general secretary.

"We recognize the challenges of hosting this regional event in light of the recent shift of General Assembly & Conventions to the summer of 2023," said Justin Pickard, USA/Canada NYI coordinator. "However, there is strong consensus that staying with our original plan and honoring established contracts with the city and venues is the best decision. In addition, we believe we can leverage previous NYC momentum while capitalizing on the centennial year of Nazarene Youth International by joining the global NYI celebration throughout 2023."

Nazarene Youth Conference is a quadrennial event that will bring together an estimated 10,000 high school students and youth leaders from across the USA/Canada Region for five days of worship services, service projects, and more.

Additional details, including theme, speakers, and other details, will be released in the spring of 2021 through district NYI leadership and on the NYC social media pages.

PREACHING & MUSIC AMBASSADORS
Greetings from Olivet Nazarene University!

As we wrap up a very unpredictable fall of 2020, we are expectantly looking towards the spring of 2021. Today we begin the scheduling process for the Preaching and Music Ambassadors program for the spring of 2021. We would love to partner with you in ministry by sending a Preaching or Music Ambassador to your church during the spring semester.

You can select a date that works for your church and we will send a student or students to preach and/or lead worship. There is no financial obligation to the local church - Olivet is taking care of all the travel expenses with the help of individual donors. However, it would be helpful if someone from the church could house the student on Saturday evening and provide a lunch on Sunday after church. Your congregation is also welcome to take a love offering for the student(s).

If you are interested in hosting a Preaching or Music Ambassador, please visit this link
to fill out a request form bDecember 11thOnce all the requests are in, we will put together a tentative spring 2021 schedule and send that out to you by January 11th . In light of COVID-19, this schedule is subject to change depending upon university regulations. However, we are hoping and praying for the opportunity to visit your church in the spring of 2021.

This program is committed to the mentoring and transformation of the lives of the students that are a part of the program, and we believe that a major part of that mentoring and transformation happens when our students are given the opportunity to come to your churches. We are beyond grateful for the pastors and congregations that have welcomed our students over the years and have certainly made an impact on their lives!
If you have any specific questions, please email us at pama@olivet.edu
or call 815-936-3992. We look forward to working with you!

Church Multiplication Endowment Fund
Give a GIFT that doesn't stop Giving!

Would you give $1.00 a month if it never stopped giving, never wore out, never changed its usefulness or purpose and transformed lives?

How many times do we give a gift to someone only to see it discarded at a later date or discover it was never used as intended? Have you ever wanted to give a gift that would never grow old or wear out, that would always be used for good and made a difference for eternity? NOW you can!

Jesus said "But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal."

Would you partner with your Northwestern Illinois District's vision to plant churches?  You might wonder how you can make a difference or even be a part. Everyone can. We need some to plant, we need everyone to pray and we need many to invest.

The Church Multiplication Endowment Fund is designed to reach unreached people living on the NWIL District for Christ. Every dollar given will continue to give in perpetuity. An endowment fund uses the interest from the principle to do kingdom work.  Will you help fund this goal?

Currently, our district property funds have been invested in planting 22 new churches these past three years and the district is in need of capital to continue to plant more! We need your help. Presently, there are 36 more potential church plants in various stages of planning which will require additional funding support.

Help us reach our GOAL of planting 300 churches by 2030.  We see 300 churches as 3,000 disciplemakers who disciple 15,000 disciples gathering with 30,000 worshippers.  Every dollar you give will continue to reach people for Christ your whole lifetime and beyond.

Would you consider a GIFT of $1.00 a month?  We are not trying to take money from your local ministry where you give your tithes and offerings. We are asking for many to give a little.  Our initial goal is 5,000 giving at least $1.00 a month. Would you be one of those 5,000 making a commitment to create a movement to plant churches that change lives?  Here are ways to give:

 1. You can give to your local church by marking your check or cash gift "NWIL CM Endowment" and your church treasurer will take it from there.

 2. You can also choose to give online if you want to set up one time or reoccurring payments using debit/credit/Electronic Check on the district website at nwilnaz.org/GIVE/ On District Church Planting or direct  CM Endowment Giving LINK. Or scan this QR code at the bottom of this article.

3. You can send a check or cash to NWIL District, 3520 Broadway St., Pekin, IL 61554 (please indicate CM Endowment on check memo)

We are also looking for those who might like to make greater kingdom investments!

You can give cash, stocks, bonds, real estate, livestock, grain, or other personal property.  Basically, any asset of marketable value can be used to help fund this endowment. There are also charitable gift annuity options that allow you to specify the endowment fund or another ministry of your choice while allowing you to receive income for your lifetime and when you pass, your gift goes to the endowment fund or specified ministryCLICK HERE  to see other ways to model generosity. Gifts can be given in memory or in honor of someone.

Large or small: Why not leave a lasting legacy that lasts more than your lifetime.
