Because Lutherans are playful: we relish opportunities to celebrate and have fun. A HUGE THANK YOU goes out to our Education Ministry Team and volunteers for an energizing and engaging Rally Day Carnival last Sunday to kick off a new year of Christian Education at Emanuel's. Seriously, look how cute this crowd is and get a load of that adorable ark! "I am about to do a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it?" ~Isaiah 43:19. We are better together.

MINISTRY FAIR SUNDAY: CHRISTIAN EDUCATION
What a fun-filled, beautiful Rally Day Carnival we had on Sunday, August 29! From a fishpond to a parachute, hat-decorating to beanbag toss and so much more, our youth and their families enjoyed our s'more themed kick-off to what is sure to be a great year of faith formation for our youth.
This year, we're trying something a bit different. For IGNITE! Kids, our youth are gathering downstairs in the green room for PM or me to read them the story of the day, followed by a song or two and a prayer. Then we split off into groups by age, eat a snack, and dig deeper into our story. We then clean up and return to worship sometime between the Hymn of the Day and Sharing of the Peace because we believe that families communing together is important. Family pages for each week's stories are available on the central table in the Narthex to aid families in making connections to faith from church to everyday life.
We're still in need of some volunteers to help lead our youth small groups. This is not an every Sunday commitment, and no experience is necessary! We want to have enough volunteers that we can rotate leaders, allowing the kiddos to get lots of perspectives from our members and begin to build relationships with many people so they know they are safe, loved, welcome, and IMPORTANT here at ELC! Contact either myself or Emily Prochnow for more information on how to get involved with youth faith formation this year!

"GOD'S WORK. OUR HANDS"
“God’s work. Our hands.” Sunday is an opportunity to celebrate who we are as the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America – one church, freed in Christ to serve and love our neighbor. Service activities offer an opportunity for us to explore one of our most basic convictions as Lutherans: that all of life in Jesus Christ – every act of service, in every daily calling, in every corner of life – flows freely from a living, daring confidence in God’s grace.
