Fall leaf collection scheduled
The Ocean Pines Association has announced leaf collection procedures for its residents this fall. Public Works will collect leaves and other yard debris from Nov. 23 through Dec. 18. Read more.

Yacht Club tiki bar to extend season
With nice weather in the forecast, the closing of the tiki bar, originally scheduled for Oct. 4, has been postponed. A closing party will be held when the tiki bar eventually shuts down for the season, probably in the next couple of weeks. Stay tuned for details!
Comcast continues in-person solicitations
Comcast representatives will continue knocking on doors in Ocean Pines this week. Solicitations will continue throughout the next several weeks and will target potential subscribers whose addresses have been verified as ready for service. Read more.
Sports Core Pool adjusts weekend hours
The indoor Sports Core Pool has adjusted its hours of operation on Saturdays and Sundays. The pool is now open to the public from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. on Saturdays and 10 a.m.-3 p.m. on Sundays. Read more.
OP Pickleball hosts successful Pink Ribbon Classic
Dozens of players, volunteers, sponsors and donors helped raise $8500 for the American Cancer Society at the 3rd Annual Pickleball Pink Ribbon Classic on Friday, Oct. 2 at the Ocean Pines Racquet Center. Read more.

Worcester Health holds fall flu clinics
The Worcester County Health Department, in collaboration with Atlantic General Hospital, will hold several flu clinics in October, including one at the Ocean Pines Community Center on Saturday, Oct. 10. Read more.
Free hazardous waste collection offered, Oct. 31
Worcester County Recycling will offer a free, household hazardous waste collection on Saturday, Oct. 31 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the West Ocean City Park and Ride. Read more.

Gov. Hogan: Indoor visitation to resume at nursing homes, child care to expand ratios
Gov. Larry Hogan has announced that indoor visitation may resume at Maryland nursing homes where no new cases have been reported in 14 days or more. The expansion of child care to full teacher to child ratios and capacities was also announced. Read more.

The Kiwanis Club of Greater Ocean Pines-Ocean City, MD celebrated the installation of new officers and its 40th anniversary on Oct. 1 in White Horse Park. Pictured, from left, are outgoing President Roy Foreman presenting the gavel to incoming President Steve Cohen. An award was presented for the Kiwanian of the Year to Carolyn Dryzga. Barbara Peletier received the Appreciation Award. All officers were installed by newly elected Kiwanis Lt. Governor of Division 5 of the Capital District, Christine Johnson. Membership is open to all adults, men and women who are interested in being a part of this volunteer community service club.

The Pine'eer Artisan Gift Shop Now Open
The Pine'eer Artisan Gift Shop is open Saturdays 8 a.m.-3 p.m. and Sundays 10 a.m.- 3 p.m. Masks are required, and only credit card payments are currently accepted. The shop is located in White Horse Park next to the Ocean Pines Administration Building.

Shepherd's Nook & Flea Market Open
The Shepherd's Nook and Flea Market at the Community Church at Ocean Pines and Sarah's Pantry are open. All facilities require that masks be worn inside. The Nook will be restricted to 8 customers entering at a time and the flea market will be limited to 5 customers at a time. The direct phone number for the Nook and Sarah's Pantry is 410-641-8392. Hours of operation are Wednesday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Ocean Pines Anglers Club Asking for Catch Data
Members of the Ocean Pines Anglers Club are asking local anglers to log and submit their catch data, to help improve statistics that govern recreational fishing. To view the form, visit https://fishinoc.com/fish-data.

Oct. 17: Community Church at Ocean Pines Christmas Yard Sale / 9 a.m.-1 p.m.
Featuring table top decorations, linens and things, new and gently used clothing, gift/boutique table, "potpourri," ornaments, wreaths, trees, and children's table with books and toys. Located in the Shepherd's Nook parking lot at 11227 Race Track Road in Ocean Pines. Masks required as well as use of hand sanitizer and social distancing. Rain date: Oct. 24.

Oct. 17: Outdoor Christmas Mart / 10 a.m.-3 p.m.
Sponsored by Atlantic UM Church, 4th St., Ocean City. Featuring Christmas home place decor, bakery items and gifts, vintage and new jewelry and take & make holiday items. The thrift shop will be open, and carry-out lunch items (vegetable beef soup, chicken salad sandwiches, cupcakes, brownies and drinks) will be available. Masks required; credit cards accepted. Rain date: Oct. 24.

Oct. 31: Ocean Pines Chamber Halloween Car Parade / 12 p.m.
The Ocean Pines Chamber of Commerce will hold a Halloween-themed parade through Ocean Pines on Oct. 31 beginning at noon from the grass lot at the Veterans Memorial on Cathell Road. Classic cars, Jeep clubs, fire engines, and other local spooky vehicles will head north, ending up at White Horse Park. Vehicles are encouraged to decorate for the holiday. Through Dec. 31: Kiwanis Lottery Raffle Ticket Sales
Purchase tickets now through Dec. 31 for drawings to be held every evening in 2021. Tickets are $20 each and are valid for 365 drawings. Payouts are $20 per evening, except for special dates when winnings are $50-$250. All proceeds benefit local scholarships and youth programs. Tickets may be purchased from any Kiwanis member, or at the Ocean Pines Farmers and Artisans Market, held Saturdays from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. in White Horse Park.
