Greetings!

This week I was in Washington, D.C. for another busy week of meetings and votes. I hope everyone in our Orange County community has a happy and healthy Fourth of July holiday weekend. I feel so lucky to be able to live in America – the country that gave me the opportunity to live my American dream.

Here are some highlights from my week:

  • Introduced a bill to combat unemployment fraud and support victims of identity theft
  • Spoke on the House Floor about the importance of repealing the SALT Cap
  • Attended the Huntington Beach Police Officers’ Association awards ceremony

I’ll be using this newsletter as a way to keep you up to date on my work on behalf of our Orange County community, so make sure you sign up for regular updates. You can also connect with my official Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram pages, where I’ll be posting the latest news and updates.

Your Voice in DC
Working to Repeal the SALT Cap
The State and Local Tax (SALT) deduction cap hurt many hardworking families in Orange County. The average SALT deduction lost in the 48th district was $28,532. As a member of the bipartisan SALT Caucus, I am working with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to find a way to repeal this cap. This week, I joined members of the caucus to discuss the impact it has on Californians and the importance of repealing it.
Combatting Unemployment Fraud
Billions of dollars in pandemic unemployment assistance has been stolen from American taxpayers. This is unacceptable. This bipartisan legislation ensures transparency and accountability and protects more of your taxpayer money from falling into the wrong hands. Read more.
Condemning Human Rights Abuses
The Chinese Communist Party has a long list of human rights abuses, ranging from the suppression of a free press in Hong Kong, to the mass internment and torture of the Uyghurs. This week I co-sponsored bipartisan legislation to condemn the CCP for this abuse. I also spoke on the House Floor about the 100 year anniversary of the communist regime.
How I voted
My goal as your member of Congress is to be as transparent as possible about the votes I am taking in Washington. You can always view my vote record on my website.

I want to hear your feedback! Please don’t hesitate to reach out with questions or comments on legislation or items currently up for debate in Congress.
Click here to see what the House voted on this weekHere’s an explanation of some of my votes:

H.R.3684 INVEST in America ActThe legislation in total costs American taxpayers over $700 billion, strips states from prioritizing building new roads, rejects bipartisan project streamlining provisions and increases passenger rail programs by 850% - allowing taxpayers to pay for the California High-Speed Rail which has ballooned to over $100 billion. This much spending will only further drive inflation and leave future generations with massive amounts of debt. That’s why I opposed H.R. 3684 when it reached the House Floor for a vote.
