Senate Bill 740 - The addition of a $5 fee in boat registration for the goal of better funding with dedicated funds the removal of Abandoned and Derelict Boats.

Update: At this point in time, both the SB740 and SB840 have been replaced with a new one, Senate Bill 859. This bill allows for the increase of the maximum amount allowed in the Abandoned and Derelict Boat Account to increase from $150,000 as it is today, to $1Million in the future. The goal is to jumpstart the fund with an initial $1M seed money, then work to create a long term solution. This allows almost immediate access to funds for boat removal as needed. A big win for everyone! Stan Tonneson needs to be thanked for his efforts. If you are unaware, he owns Rocky Pointe Marina and really has been driving for a solution. I'm sure we'll hear more soon, but right now this is pretty big news.
Poker Run 2021 - August 21st and 22nd

CRYA is proud to announce a new event for all of our boating members. How many of you have seen the articles on this type of event in other areas of the country and how much fun it appears to be? I know we have and hope to bring that to our NW boating waters. Ken Williams will be working on this event and we encourage anyone to help join him in creating what we hope will be an annual boating event. More information and event particulars coming soon.
The 2021 CRYA Golf Tournament
Saturday Sept. 18th, 2021 at Wildwood Golf Course
Sponsored by: Sheffield Marine Propeller

We will have ready before the next general meeting all the forms needed to sign up to be a foursome team to compete, or for support of the tournament through sponsorship. It will be a best ball, shotgun start style event, with changes for hole in one prizes, as well as some best shot categories during play. Please, start thinking about joining us this year as it has always been fun, good experience, and a chance to meet other fellow boaters. Andy Meyer is the Golf Tournament Chair, you can contact him with any questions you may have. Here's to a great end of year outing as we begin the exit of Covid restrictions.
The rise and fall of Washington States Marine Excise Tax: Many folks reported the plan to change the excise tax fee from .5% to 1% on Washington boaters for an infrastructure project was removed from the Bill. It was from efforts of Recreational Boaters Association of Washington (RBAW) as well as the Northwest Marine Trade Association (NMTA) led to the committee to remove this source of funding for that bill. Huge win for the Boat Owners of Washington! Organizations that represent boaters can help make change!
