Dear Members,

It's been so great seeing so many of you since our reopening a few weeks ago!

You've brought the facility to life with your energy, support for others and our new safety measures, and above all, your strong desire to get organized fitness back into your lives. You've helped reaffirm our belief that exercise is medicine, and it's truly better when we are all in it together.

For those of you who have used the facility, I want to thank you for patronage and support. For those of you who haven’t had the chance to come back, we look forward to the day when you do!

As many of you know, the Body Zone fitness experience has definitely been different since our reopening. So as we navigate through another month in our first reopening phase, I'd like to give you an update on how things have been going -- a report on our business health. Quite frankly, I wasn’t sure what to expect and for the most part I have been pleasantly surprised. Here's a basic overview to-date:

  • We've had more than 5500 check-ins and have witnessed steady growth over time. These represent about 55% of the check-ins we would normally see this time of year.
  • 150 of our members have scheduled and trained with one of our personal trainers.
  • Nearly 1500 of our members have taken a group fitness class outside, inside or virtually.
  • Since June 29 we've welcomed 36 new members which has met or exceeded normal numbers.
  • Body Zone Physical Therapy has been open the entire pandemic and is now seeing its normal volume of patients.
  • Our summer camp has been in full swing since June 8 and we have had 350 campers attend thus far.

Although we are grateful for these initial numbers, we also realize that the pandemic and its restrictions have negatively affected many vital components of our business and continue to do so:

  • 60 of our members canceled their memberships entirely.
  • More than 160 members have chosen to freeze their membership.
  • The pool has been limited to fulfilling private lessons and small group classes that were partially held prior to the shutdown.
  • Our Kids Zone, smoothie bar and access to our showers remain closed.
  • All of our sports instructional programs for youth and adults have been suspended.
  • Structured league play on the fields, court and ice rinks have ceased.
  • Open play and public sports opportunities on fields, courts and rinks have ceased.
  • Birthday parties and special events no longer take place.

So, as we move closer to August and with fall just around the corner, we remain guardedly optimistic that we will be fully operational sometime in the fall. We plan to announce Phase II of our reopening in late August, which would include future plans for the pool, child care, full locker room access and other services and amenities.

We will be sending out a brief survey to all of you in the next few days addressing your experiences so far and some of your thoughts moving forward. Your feedback matters!

Thank you for your patience and understanding and know that we greatly appreciate your support in this process.

Have a wonderful day,

Ted Kolva
General Manager
