Giving Thanks for Tom & Lindey Buiter
Tom has been at Christ Covenant since 2017 – serving first as a pastoral intern while a student at Reformed Theological Seminary (RTS) here in Charlotte. After graduating from RTS, he joined our staff team and began serving as our Assistant Director of Small Groups in July 2020. In this capacity Tom has played a vital role in continuing to develop and grow our small groups ministry - promoting small groups, resourcing and encouraging small group leaders, making connections and small group placements, supporting existing groups and getting numerous new groups off the ground. We are so grateful for the substantial growth of this vital ministry over the last two years in large part due to the Lord’s blessing of Tom’s faithful, enthusiastic and thoughtful labor.

Lindey began attending Christ Covenant in 2012 and worked with Campus Outreach and our 18/22 community. She joined the Children’s Ministry staff in 2016 and has most recently served as our volunteer and social media coordinator. She has been instrumental in staffing our many classrooms with volunteers and keeping our families in the loop about our activities by way of our Instagram and Facebook pages. The ripples of her work which flowed out of her love for the Lord, His Word and for Christ Covenant Church will be felt for a long time to come.

Tom Buiter has accepted a call to be an assistant pastor at New Covenant Church in Anderson, SC. Tom, Lindey, and Elijah will move to Anderson on April 16. At New Covenant Church, Tom will continue to do small groups ministry as well as some preaching, teaching, counseling, and mercy ministry. Tom and Lindey are excited about this opportunity but saddened to leave Christ Covenant. Join us in giving thanks to the Lord for Tom and Lindey and join us in praying for them as they move and minister in Anderson, SC.

Radius Missiology Conference
Early Registration ends April 30
The Radius Missiology Conference (RMC) is a unique two-day event where the ideas, philosophies, and methodologies of historic and contemporary missions are discussed and taught by pastors, missiologists, and experienced cross-cultural church planters. The RMC is an ideal opportunity for pastors, missionary candidates, and church leaders to become better informed on the state of modern missions and learn how Radius can assist local churches in equipping their members to take the gospel where it has never been. Featured speakers include Alistair Begg, Brooks Buser, Wayne Chen, our Senior Pastor Kevin DeYoung, and others

Radius is being hosted here at Christ Covenant Church on June 29-30, 2022. Early registration is open now through April 30. The cost is $75 and includes two lunch both days. To learn more and to register, visit https://www.radiusinternational.org/missiology-conference/.
Afghan Refugee Update
Christ Covenant has begun to serve a young Afghan family who has been in the United States since the end of August. The family consists of the parents and four children: a daughter who is 8, twin boys who are 6 and an 18-month-old daughter.

Prior to leaving Afghanistan, the husband worked for the United Nations in the Public Relations department. Although he was able to get his wife and children out of the country, he left behind all other family members including parents, siblings, and close friends. The family members left behind are in harm’s way and struggling to survive.

To further add to their traumatic story, this family’s apartment, where they had been resettled in our area, recently experienced a fire. They were all able to escape the fire but lost everything else. Currently, they are living in two adjacent hotel rooms.

Their most pressing need is housing that includes cooking facilities. If you know of anyone who may have housing available, a vacant rental, maybe a garage apartment or a basement space, anything that may meet the housing needs of this family, please contact Amy Van Dusen. Please note that the family receives a housing allowance so they are able to pay rent.

An additional list of needs will be forthcoming

If you have an extra room in your house, a detached apartment, or a separate property that you would like to rent, please contact Kristen Schonover at kschonover@rts.edu or 704-688-4220.
