WCMS COVID-19 Workgroup - Thursday, November 5 at 6:00 PM
Since March, WCMS has convened regular COVID-19 teleconferences to discuss resource allocation, emergency preparedness, and tracking and tracing among Washtenaw's health systems and physician leaders. The workgroup is led by University of Michigan infectious diseases specialist and WCMS Executive Council member Sandro Cinti, MD. The workgroup also receives updates and modeling data from UM Public Health epidemiologists. To access recordings and resources from past meetings, please follow this link.

WCMS Legislative Committee: Election Wrap-Up and Lame Duck Discussion on Monday, Nov. 16 at 7:30 AM
WCMS members are encouraged to join the Legislative Committee on Monday, November 16 from 7:30 - 9:00 AM. Legislators typically in attendance include: Congresswoman Debbie Dingell, State Senator Jeff Irwin, and State Reps. Donna Lasinski and Yousef Rabhi. A final list of legislator RSVPs will be available on the WCMS website. The November 16 discussion will be focused on the election results and the upcoming "lame duck" legislative session.

WCMS Sends Comments to MDHHS on Rule to Protect Youth from Nicotine Product Addiction
WCMS is a proud member of the Keep MI Kids Tobacco Free Alliance, a group of nearly 70 organizations committed to working to revise Michigan's tobacco control policies. On October 20, WCMS Executive Director Gabrielle Szlenkier provided virtual testimony to the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services on the proposed public health rule that would end the sale of flavored e-cigarettes. On October 23, WCMS submitted public comments on the rule.

Complimentary E/M Coding Update for 2021 for WCMS Members
WCMS members are invited to learn about the 2021 E/M guidelines for office and other outpatient service codes 99202-99215. Speaker Betsy Nicoletti, MS, CPC will provide a virtual, high-level overview on Tuesday, December 8 from 8:30 - 9:45 AM.
This virtual event is being hosted by sister county, the Oakland County Medical Society (OCMS). All WCMS members are invited free of charge with registration here. Attendees may submit questions in advance.

Leadership Opportunities at WCMS
Submit by December 1 for 2021 Service
WCMS at the MSMS House of Delegates
The House of Delegates (HOD) is the official policy-making body of MSMS. Resolutions are the vehicles used to debate and determine the policies, priorities, and direction of MSMS. Each year, physician and medical student members serve as delegates, review resolutions, testify in reference committees, and vote on important policy decisions. WCMS was allocated 16 delegate slots in 2020. To learn more, click here.
WCMS Executive Council
The Executive Council is the voting body that supervises the function and activities of WCMS. Council members determine annual events, legislative priorities, and community outreach directives. The Executive Council now meets virtually the first Thursday of each month.
WCMS Committees and Task Forces
Each committee meets approximately three-four times annually and members are simply asked to share a passion for the subject and interest in learning skills in the field.
