With the election less than a week away, we want to make sure you have all the information and resources you need to help you cast your vote.

Voting early and in person is the best way to guarantee that your vote gets counted while avoiding Election Day lines. The last day to early vote is Saturday, October 31st.

If you have requested a mail-in ballot but have not submitted it yet, you can either take that ballot to the polls to exchange it and vote in person OR you can drop in it the secure drop boxes at the early voting locations. Absentee ballot rules state that your mail in ballots postmarked by November 3rd will be included, however we strongly encourage utilizing a secure drop box to ensure your vote gets counted.

If you have already mailed in your absentee ballot, make sure to track it online to confirm that it has been counted. The Commonwealth of Virginia started counting ballots last week so you can track your ballot HERE.
While this election is vastly different from other elections in many ways, the biggest change will be that it is highly likely that we won't know who our next President Elect will be until late next week. Even though many states have become counting absentee ballots, there will likely be a delay in the results. Some experts are saying that a final count won't be available until Friday, November 6th.
Shuttle Service for Early Voting
If you are registered to vote in Montgomery County, VT Engage is offering a free shuttle service to help students and employees vote early! They're offering shuttles to one of the county's two early vote locations (Uptown Christiansburg Mall.)

Shuttles will be offered at various times from Monday - Saturday until early voting ends on Saturday, October 31. Each trip is estimated to be around 40 minutes (time include round-trip ride to Christiansburg and voting.)

Facilitating Post-Election Conversations with Students
VT Engage created a workshop that will focus on providing tools and resources to engage in civic discussions with students. While the resources can be useful for any civics discussion, there will be a specific focus on the 2020 election.

Training will take place on Thursday, October 29 from 2 - 3:30p.

Upcoming Events
In this episode, we explore a variety of civic engagement components. Dr. Caitlin Jewitt, an Assistant Professor of Political Science, offers insight into the electoral process as well as ways in which voter suppression occurs. We are also joined by Jes Davis from VT Engage, who shares the importance of the student voice and how voters can cast their ballot this fall.
