Health Measures Being Eased for
Restaurants & Indoor Fitness
The Government of Alberta previously announced the easing of Public Health restrictions for restaurants and indoor fitness under step 1 (600 hospitalizations and declining) of Alberta's four-step framework to safely ease restrictions while also protecting the Alberta heath-care system.

The Path Forward sets specific benchmarks for moving forward on the easing of restrictions and will be evaluated every 3 weeks to determine whether the province can safely move to the next step.

Since the original announcement, there has been a slight update to the guidelines. Please see below in red for updates and important reminders. It is important to follow the guidelines as we have heard that some golf operators are being penalized for not adhering to all guidelines outlined below:
Indoor Fitness
Indoor fitness centres will be permitted to open with the following conditions:

  • Only one-on-one or one-on-one household training sessions are permitted but cannot interact with others and there must be a minimum of three metres between sessions in the same facility.

  • Trainers must be professional, certified and/or paid trainers who are providing active instruction and correction. (i.e. golf professionals)

  • Sessions have to be scheduled or by appointment; no drop-in by individuals or groups permitted.

  • Sports games, competitions, team practice, league play or group exercise of any kind is prohibited.

  • Trainers must wear a mask during instruction, clients are not required to wear a mask while exercising.

  • More than one trainer and client 'pair' are permitted inside the facility at the same time as long as they maintain the 3 metres including in entryways and exits.

  • Trainer and client 'pairs' are not permitted to interact with other 'pairs' at any time.

We understand that simulators can be open for private one-on-one or one-on-one household lessons operating under the guidelines listed above. Simulators are not permitted to be open for personal recreational use at this time. As always, please contact your Alberta Health Services representative for clarification.
Restaurants
Restaurants will be permitted to offer in-person dining with the following conditions:

  • Maximum of 6 people per table is permitted.
  • Individuals must be from same household or two close contacts for people living alone.
  • Contact information must be collected from one person in the dining party.
  • Liquor service must end at 10 pm and in-person dining must close by 11 pm.
  • No entertainment allowed (live music, pool tables, etc.)
Your Association continues to monitor announcements, seek clarification, and provide updates. Please do not hesitate to contact me should you have any questions.
