CASA Awarded Relief Recovery Grant
We are honored to be a recipient of the Covid-19 Relief Recovery Grant from the Community Foundation for San Benito County and United Way of San Benito County. Funding from this grant will support part of our operations, and enable us to purchase technical equipment for advocates to maintain face-to-face communication and a personal connection with their assigned child/ren and their caregivers, as well as participate in meetings with the child's assigned professionals. We are deeply appreciative of this grant and look forward to continuing to provide consistent support and advocacy for foster children from our community.
Advocacy in Action
Coming from a small, rural community, this young man faced numerous challenges prior to entering foster care. Once assigned to CASA, his advocate quickly became a consistent source of support by assisting the young man in assimilating to his new community. This included obtaining tutoring services, practicing language skills during their weekly visits, providing cultural guidance, and mentoring.

If You See Something, Say Something
Fall is usually the time of year where we see a significant increase in the number of children entering foster care; they are back in school, and have access to mandated reporters such as teachers and coaches. This year, instead of the expected increase, there has been a significant decrease in the number of referrals made to social services by mandated reporters. The safety and well-being of children from our community is everyone's responsibility.
If you see something, please say something! To report suspected child abuse, please call 911 or San Benito County Child Protective Services at 831-636-4190. For a list of additional community resources, click here.
