Hello Friend
You know by now that we normally like to keep things pretty light here at Bloom Senior Living. We believe that you're never too old to have fun, and our approach to care is all about helping our residents flourish.

Part of flourishing is recognizing that there are some sticky points to getting older. Rather than brushing past the elephant in the room, we prefer a more direct approach. Yes, we're all about living life to its fullest potential -- that's never going to change. But maybe you're reading this and you're wondering if you might need a few more resources. We understand, and we're here to help.

In this newsletter, we're going to talk about memory care and isolation among seniors. We'll pass along a few pointers to help you understand how to intervene and when to ask for help. If you're in that boat, we're more than happy to talk. If you need more help than you can get in an email newsletter like this, simply contact us below and we'll do our best to answer your questions. We can also talk to you more about our independent retirement living and assisted living options if you prefer.
Pointers for a Sharper Memory
An Able Body
Never underestimate the value of a good walk! A low-impact walk encourages cardiovascular health and had added social, emotional, and mental benefits. Here's another fun fact: Tai Chi is a slow-moving meditative exercise, and most Tai Chi practitioners begin after age 50!
An Engaged Mind
Let's not forget the importance of staying mentally active! In addition to being good fun, board games such as Chess, Checkers, or word games can help to improve mental dexterity and social skills, while also reducing stress.
Warning Signs
It's important to know when to intervene or ask for help with memory care. Some indicators that it may be time to get help include excessive clutter or undone tasks, along with accidents, bruises, or falls. Withdrawl from favorite activities or changes in weight or hygiene may also indicate that it's time to seek out assistance.
All About Community
Covid ended up being something of a "double pandemic" for a lot of people. In addition to the viral pandemic, there was also an onslaught of loneliness and isolation. We humans are social creatures, and we need others to maintain our wellbeing and emotional health.

This is where Bloom Senior Living shines. We're passionate about keeping seniors connected with a community they love, in a supportive, encouraging, and fun environment. If your loved one is lonely, we'd love to introduce them to new friends. Contact us today to find out how we can help.
