That was a celebration! Congrats class of 2020
Nearly 3,000 students persevered through an extraordinary winter semester to earn their Georgian credential and were recognized on June 30 during the college’s first-ever virtual celebration. While not a replacement for convocation, the online event was an opportunity to celebrate our students’ accomplishments and provide a way for graduates to remotely share the proud moment with family and friends.

On June 30, a special celebration page, proudgeorgiangrad.ca , was launched and has been buzzing with activity and visits ever since. More than 1,200 graduates participated in the virtual celebration and had the opportunity to see their names on the graduate scroll, experience the Georgian alumni virtual photo booth and watch video addresses from administration, alumni, faculty, staff, and fellow students.

New grads that registered prior to the event were eligible to win 1 of 3 prizes, generously sponsored by Johnson Insurance. Prizes included a Georgian Alumni Pride Pack, a new 128 GB 7th generation iPad, and a Georgian Day at Canada’s Wonderland 2021 prize package.

Join in on the celebration and help congratulate the class of 2020. Use the hashtag #ProudGeorgianGrad in your social media posts and they will be curated on a special social board on proudgeorgiangrad.ca .
Kindness wins during COVID-19
COVID-19 Hardship Bursary launched to support Georgian students
The COVID-19 pandemic has created a challenging and unique environment for Georgian students who’ve had to navigate uncharted waters of social isolation, financial pressure and the move to remote program and service delivery. Quick to respond, your alma mater launched a COVID-19 Hardship Bursary fund to help ease some of the financial burden students are experiencing. The fund supports both domestic and international students enrolled in regular, full-time programs at Georgian and who demonstrate an urgent financial need.

The fund has already provided critical support to more than 712 students studying remotely with Georgian during the current summer semester, and is open for eligible students studying at Georgian in the fall semester. It was established with the support of generous alumni and community donors, the Georgian College Students’ Association (Barrie campus) and the Ontario Government. Please join your fellow alum by making a gift using Georgian’s safe and secure online giving page . Your donation and participation will have a significant impact.
