Updates to Alberta's Occupational Health and Safety Code | |
The Government of Alberta has recently released further details on upcoming OHS Code changes. These updates will be effective March 31, 2023.
Government of Alberta Announcement (Dec. 15, 2022):
"After extensively consulting with employers, workers and health and safety professionals, Alberta’s government will be implementing changes to parts of the Occupational Health and Safety Code (OHS Code). The changes will take effect on March 31, 2023.
An updated and easier-to-understand OHS Code will help employers keep workers safe, build workplaces that support jobs, attract investment and grow Alberta’s economy."
OHS eNews Special OHS Code Changes Edition (Dec. 19, 2022):
"A number of resources describing highlights of the upcoming OHS Code changes are available now in the Upcoming legislation changes section of Alberta’s OHS Resource Portal. More resources will be added as they become available.
An amendment regulation has been passed enacting the changes; this regulation, which contains details of the changes, can be viewed here.
A three-year review plan is now in place to chart out which parts of the OHS Code will be reviewed next and to ensure the OHS Code is kept current. If you have questions about OHS Code review, contact lbr_ohsreview@gov.ab.ca."

The Working Mind First Responders - Virtual |
The Alberta Municipal Health and Safety Association (AMHSA) is partnering with the Mental Health Commission of Canada (MHCC) and TELUS Health to provide specialized training and tools to support rural and remote firefighters living with or at risk of post-traumatic stress injuries (PTSI).
The program is being made available free of charge to fire and rescue first responders who work in fire stations registered in rural and remote municipalities and small cities across Alberta.
Space is available in upcoming sessions:

January 12, 8 am - 12 pm
January 24, 1 pm - 4 pm
January 25, 8 am - 12 pm
