A Morsel for Meditation
When someone strips another of his clothes, he is called a thief. Should not someone who has the power to clothe the naked but does not do so be called the same? The bread in your larder belongs to the hungry. The cloak in your wardrobe belongs to the naked. The shoes you allow to rot belong to the barefoot. The money in your vaults belongs to the destitute. You do injustice to everyone who you could help but do not.
Basil the Great cited
by Charles Avila in
Ownership: Early Christian Teaching

Worship
(Berlin: Berlinische Galerie, 1937),
destroyed by the National Socialist German Workers’ Party
(aka Nazis) during WWII.
Works by Modernist, Jewish or dissident artists were discredited as “degenerate” and their creators were stigmatised as “cultural Bolsheviks”. Many of these artists were banned from teaching, exhibiting and painting by the Nazi regime. Their works were removed from public collections and sometimes sold abroad. Many artists were persecuted, arrested and killed. Some managed to escape to other countries. Many who remained in Germany bearing the shameful “degenerate” tag lived in isolation and continued their work in secret.
Collect
Almighty and everlasting God, in Christ you have revealed your glory among the nations: Preserve the works of your mercy, that your Church throughout the world may persevere with steadfast faith in the confession of your Name; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

PRAYER REQUESTS & BOX

The Daughters of the King support your prayer needs and wishes. Each Sunday a prayer team will be available to pray with you after the Worship Service in the choir area after the 10:30 service. If you would like additional information, please see a DOK member.

They also have a intercessory prayer box on the table in the Narthex to deposit prayer requests. Prayer request cards may be found in the pews and beside the box in the Narthex. Daughters pray daily. All prayers are confidential. Each person is prayed for one month. If you wish for continued prayers, please complete another request card or contact a Daughter.

You may call the church office (903-455-5030) and specify it is for the DOK intercessory prayer list. You can hand the card to a Daughter (she is always wearing her cross).

And I will give you pastors according to mine heart,
which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding.
Jeremiah 3:15
A pastor never gets to say “I’m off duty”. Never gets to punch out at 5. Never gets to have a normal schedule. We don’t know how many sleepless nights they spend on their knees praying for their church. How much opposition they face. How many family opportunities they miss to meet with hurting people. We can’t carry their burden for them but we can do what the Bible tells us to: Pray for them. Encourage them. Support them. By blessing them we will only be blessed in return. Ten players total, most from St. Paul's with their friends formed two teams of 5 players each. We played a good fast paced 6 structured games all around, and one final game until ammunition ran out. Our cameraman was none other than our Jr. Warden, Frank McKee!
Hunt County paintball took some photos too, and those will be on Facebook soon. All had a good time. (click to view more)

It is a truism of faith that God watches over us. But is it good news?

Yes: God watches over us as a protector, one who preserves us from deadly harm and makes it possible for us to enjoy green pastures.

On the other hand, there is the testimony of Job. After God has afflicted Job with hideous skin disease, the loss of animals, the death of children, and the incomprehension of his friends—after this horrible calamity, Job asks God to stop watching him. Job wants a place that he can be away from God, out of God’s sight—a place where he could die alone. That, he says, would be better than continuing in God’s sight.
