The Region of Peel launched a public campaign asking residents to add their voice to the call for the provincial and federal governments to provide paid sick leave.

Region of Peel Council has called on the federal and provincial governments to provide paid sick leave benefits in Ontario immediately. Residents in Peel are encouraged to visit peelregion.ca/paid-sick-leave where they can email their local MP and/or MPP and join the call for paid sick leave in Peel.

The City of Mississauga continues to offer a variety of outdoor activities that you can enjoy with those within your household or essential supports.

In 2020, the City of Mississauga’s community gardens grew their highest yield in history – 3,366 pounds or 1,527 kilograms of produce. This comes at a time when access to food is more important than ever. More than 8,350 volunteer hours contributed to producing food for the community. The City supports nine community gardens through a partnership with Ecosource. Work will continue this year on establishing these gardens and building connections with local residents and organizations to make the gardens vibrant, community spaces.

The Mississauga Club of the Canadian Federation of University Women is holding its meetings virtually for the time being due to Provincial Guidelines. Our next meeting will be Monday, February 1 at 7:30 p.m. featuring guest speaker Kim Wheatley.

Kim’s topic will be “A Traditional Ojibway Grandmother’s Journey”. You can join us from the comfort of your home.

Avoid parking your vehicle on the street when it snows. Parked vehicles stop salting and clearing roads for emergency vehicles, public transit and residents.
Erin Mills Connects is hosting a community forum to learn how youth are feeling under these current circumstances. On Thursday, February 25 at 11:30 am, young people will share their thoughts about managing school, meeting friends online, looking for work, and keeping their hopes up. The panel will consist of students from Grades 8 to 12 in different schools across the community, as well as recent grads including students from the University of Toronto Mississauga (UTM). Click here to register.
This year, from February 1st - 5th, Carassauga presents "CultureCast", their new virtual concert series! Hosted by Carassauga Honorary Chair and Founder Hazel McCallion, viewers will be able to join in celebrating local cultural artists as they showcase their talent and heritage through music and dance performances. The event will feature 19 performances from the countries of Portugal, Colombia, Indonesia, Korea, Egypt, Iran, Vietnam, Peru, USA - State of Hawaii, Mexico, Lebanon, Ireland, Ecuador, China, Trinidad & Tobago, Philippines, Africa - Ivory Coast, Poland and Italy.

Mississauga’s Central Library will close to the public on March 20, 2021. The closure marks the start of a two-year renovation project of the City’s largest and 30 year-old library building. Construction will begin in April 2021. The library will reopen in 2023.
